A heated debate erupted over the deteriorating standard of language and political public discourse in India following controversial remarks by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. BJP National Spokesperson Rohan Gupta criticised the Congress leadership, asserting that making personal comments and insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become part of the party's regular functioning whenever they face political frustration. Gupta insisted that while personal attacks should not be tolerated regardless of who makes them, Congress leaders repeatedly cross acceptable limits. In response, Congress Spokesperson Rahul Singh Kalija defended Kharge's statements, maintaining that the BJP set the hostile political template and arguing that the party would give replies in kind. Political analysts Rajat Sethi and Ashutosh examined the broader political fallout, debating whether personal insults actually sway elections or simply reflect deep polarisation across the political divide.

00:00Discussing this evening, debating it, joining me, Rohan Gupta, National Spokesperson, Bharatiya
00:05Janata Party, Rahul Singh Kalija, Spokesperson, Congress, Ashutosh, Political Analyst, Rajat
00:11Sethi, Political Analyst.
00:12All of you will get a two-minute time to put your points forward.
00:15I'd like to begin with the BJP spokesperson because Rohan Gupta, the BJP has been affronted
00:22and rightly should be by the language used by none else but Mr. Malik Arjun Khadgi, the
00:29president of the Congress party and should have never been used.
00:34But, you know, Rohan Gupta, is it a little rich coming in from the BJP?
00:39Because similar language has been used multiple times by your political party leaders as well.
00:45One can say that, oh, this is monkey balancing but the fact is this is political public discourse.
00:50If you set the template, then you have to follow and live by the same rules.
00:56See, my point is very simple.
00:58I think we have done this debate not for the first time.
01:00Maybe 15, 25, 28 times we are doing this debate.
01:04I am saying anybody who is doing personal commit against anybody, that is absolutely not acceptable
01:09in politics, whoever it is.
01:11But coming from Congress president again and again, it's not for the first time.
01:14You have seen Mr. Rahul Gandhi mocking Mr. Modi's mother on the stage.
01:17So, this is not, you know, a mistake.
01:19This is out of some style of Congress functioning where they feel that, you know, inserting Modi
01:24gives them some kind of satisfaction.
01:26And what happens, you know, when you do this again and again, for last 12 years, Congress
01:31party has followed this thing.
01:32Whenever they get frustrated, whenever they feel that they are not going to win trust of
01:36people, they start personal attacks.
01:38And after that, what happens?
01:39People start taking revenge of personal attacks on Mr. Modi.
01:42But still, they don't understand.
01:43It is their compulsion.
01:44Otherwise, coming from the president, and if you see the follow-up thing, that person
01:48was a worker of Congress party, and he was saying that if we don't do this kind of thing,
01:52then the Modi will go.
01:54He is not even ready to listen to it.
01:56So, this has become of the mindset of the Congress, today's Congress party.
01:59They are just indulging in personal comments against Mr. Modi.
02:02And every time they have done it, you know, it has backfired.
02:06And again, I am saying, whoever has done it, even in the past or even today, it should
02:10not be done.
02:11But doing it again and again, again and again, again and again, and giving older examples,
02:15I think that's not justified.
02:16You have to stop somewhere.
02:17And you have paid price of that.
02:19Why don't you understand as a political party?
02:21Your main core issue is completely out.
02:24But it is your compulsion.
02:25It is your frustration.
02:26It is your complete lack of trust with the people that you have to succumb to this law.
02:30And coming out from the mouth of the Congress president, I think it is not acceptable.
02:34There has to be a line which can be drawn.
02:36All the time you give past examples to justify your wrongdoings, I think that is not accepted.
02:41And that's why all the Congress workers, this is not the first time, maybe this is the 13th,
02:4514th debate I am attending, where the same kind of things are repeated again and again,
02:49but with the new people all the time.
02:51So I think Congress party must restrain from doing this kind of activities and stooping so
02:57low in the public recourse.
02:59All right, Rohan Gupta, your time, you know, is over and I'll come back to you.
03:02But the fact is, and you are bang on, you are right.
03:05I think everybody has gotten sick of the kind of language that is being used by politicians
03:09in public discourse.
03:11But, and once again, some would say this is monkey balancing, but if you set the template,
03:18you have to play by the rules.
03:19And it's not happened once, it's not happened twice, it's come from either sides.
03:23Not just Malikarjun Kharge, many from the Congress have used highly derogatory, unparliamentary
03:28language, which has been not just replied to, but also separately, there have been attacks
03:33that have been launched in similar language by the BJP as well.
03:37I want to bring in, at this point of time, the Congress spokesperson, Rahul Singh Khalija.
03:41Rahul Singh Khalija, if it comes in from, let's say, somebody else from the Congress,
03:46if it comes in from a small leader, one can argue it out.
03:51But it comes in from the Congress president.
03:54There has to be some amount of respect, decorum, decency.
03:59It comes in also from the leader of opposition, Rajya Sabha.
04:05Right, you said, Preeti, but I would like to first clarify that whatever Mr. Kharge said
04:11was not a mistake.
04:12It was very intentionally said.
04:15And while fighting the pigs, one can't really keep their hands clean.
04:20This is a template, you rightly said, set by the Bharati Janta Party.
04:24They're talking about the mothers and the elders, right?
04:32Sir, your video is not working.
04:33Can you continue?
04:34If they can talk about the Pachas Karoad ki girlfriend, they can talk about late Indira
04:39Gandhiji, they can, Yogi ji can say whatever to people.
04:44Then I think Kharge ji is pretty close to Narendra Modi ji's father, who is not there with
04:49us anymore.
04:50And when he gets heckled by a stooge sent by the Bharati Janta Party, then he has the
04:56right to call out that person.
04:58And he has the right to use the same template which the Bharati Janta Party has said.
05:03We will not apologize for what Kharge ji said.
05:07And the Bharati Janta Party will get the replies in their own language from this time on.
05:13It started yesterday and it will continue.
05:16Whatever Mr. Kharge said about the former Chief Minister of Gujarat was very intentional.
05:22And we do not apologize for that.
05:25This was a template set by the Bharati Janta Party.
05:28We are just following the template.
05:30We will apologize.
05:31But Rahul, can I hold your timer and I'll hold it and I want to come in.
05:34You know, you might say it's a template.
05:36But the fact is, how does, let's say, two wrongs make a right?
05:41It doesn't, no?
05:43It doesn't.
05:43And hence I made my point.
05:46While fighting the pigs, one can't keep their hands clean.
05:49This is a language that the Bharati Janta Party understand.
05:51They don't understand the language of decency.
05:53We tried for 12 long years.
05:54They do not understand the decency language.
05:57They understand this language only.
05:59They only understand the rough, rugged talk.
06:02And they have proven it time and again.
06:06Well, okay, Rahul Singh, but the fact is, it's not the first time.
06:09If you say that the BJP set the template, no.
06:12It's been, you know, I think, equally divided.
06:15Can one forget the language of tanchmal?
06:17It came from the likes of you and your leaders.
06:19But I'll come back and I'll circle back to you.
06:21I want to bring in Rajat Sethi into this conversation as well as Ashutosh.
06:24Rajat Sethi, you know, discourse in public politics is at an all-time low,
06:30much expected from either sides of the divide.
06:33Politically, now it's being milked.
06:38See, well, Preeti ji, I, you know, it's just, you know,
06:43hearing the Congress spokesperson speak,
06:45the kind of language that he was using
06:47is just symptomatic of this malice only getting deepening
06:53and getting worse by the day.
06:55They are unapologetic.
06:56Clearly, their president has something.
06:58What can they do?
06:59The whole party is under a dog whistle
07:01that this is the language that you have to speak
07:03because the president has spoken.
07:04This is what happens when the senior most party functionary
07:07says and uses such language.
07:09Can't help it.
07:10Absolutely deplorable state of politics in our country.
07:13When Mr. Biduri uttered those words in the parliament,
07:15I was on your show and I remember I was appalled
07:17and I literally, I could not hold myself
07:20with the kind of absolutely derogatory words that he used.
07:23In fact, they should have been.
07:24He is now nowhere in politics,
07:26but this is the treatment that should have been meted out to him.
07:28Far worse also.
07:29But what do you do with Mr. Khadage?
07:31Should he be kicked out of the party?
07:33Who will kick him out?
07:33He is himself the president.
07:35So the problem with the Congress party is
07:37that this signaling is going from the very top.
07:39And somehow what is happening is that
07:41they've taken this angry party mode
07:43that, you know, when things are not working our way,
07:45we will go to the other extreme.
07:47We will elbow people.
07:49We will hurt people.
07:50We will abuse people
07:51and have this very feisty kind of an approach
07:53as if that is working.
07:54I don't understand where did this Mohabbat ki Dukaan,
07:57you know, go.
07:58All those holdings from Mohabbat ki Dukaan
08:00have been removed
08:00and Jair ki Dukaan has been put in place.
08:03Now what, if you think that
08:04having this Jair ki Dukaan on display,
08:06you are going to win and garner votes for you,
08:09then that is a foolish strategy.
08:11But who am I to guide the Congress party
08:12if they feel in all their collective wisdom
08:15that they can go out and out
08:16and keep on abusing,
08:17go all the way to the Supreme Court
08:19and then apologize before the Supreme Court
08:21the way Mr. Rahul Gandhi apologized
08:23when he said, you know,
08:25Chawki Das Choh Hai and all.
08:26He had to apologize before the Supreme Court.
08:28There are still several cases going on.
08:30See, this is a cycle and this is a habit.
08:32They believe this is how they will energize their base.
08:34But what they don't understand
08:35while they're energizing their base,
08:37the public is getting de-energized
08:38around Congress party.
08:39Okay.
08:40Rajat, your time is over.
08:41You know, you're right.
08:42It's cyclical.
08:43And I think it cuts across party lines
08:46because if it's coming from the top today,
08:48if as deplorable as it is,
08:50if Malik Arjun Khadge is invoking,
08:52you know, the dead father of our prime minister,
08:55then you had a year and a half ago
08:58the home minister invoking the dead mother
09:00of the leader of opposition,
09:01the dead grandmother of the leader of opposition.
09:04It's the same.
09:05But, you know,
09:06I bring in Ashutosh into this conversation.
09:08Ashutosh, because where does the buck stop in all of this?
09:11How low are we actually going to fall?
09:13Where are, you know,
09:14there has to be some limit to public discourse.
09:17See, Priti,
09:18but why the buck should stop?
09:20Why it should stop at all?
09:21I want this discourse to go much,
09:24much deeper,
09:26much bitter,
09:27much polarized,
09:28so that...
09:30It's a mockery of the people who voted you then,
09:32Ashutosh.
09:32It has to stop.
09:33No, no, no.
09:33Let...
09:34Hear me out.
09:35Hear me out.
09:36So that we, the people,
09:38should realize what kind of leaders we are choosing
09:41for the higher constitutional post.
09:45The people should realize this.
09:46And I can tell you
09:48that there was a time
09:49when such,
09:50such,
09:50such language was not acceptable.
09:53And anybody who used to indulge
09:56in these kind of languages
09:57used to get the punishment
09:58from the party's top bosses,
10:00but not anymore.
10:01See,
10:03it's very simple.
10:04If you,
10:05if somebody's mother
10:07is being called
10:08all kinds of names
10:10and abused
10:11on a live TV debate,
10:13and the top leaders
10:15are not reacting to that,
10:17rather it gets a kind of a,
10:19kind of a,
10:20you got some kind of a badge of honor.
10:23And you continue as a party spokesperson.
10:26If somebody
10:27who abuses
10:30a fellow member of parliament
10:31on the floor of the house
10:33and he gets promotion,
10:35then the BJP has no right
10:37to complain about it.
10:38Did Amit Shah ever apologize
10:42for the kind of language
10:44used for the Indira Gandhi?
10:46Did BJP ever punish,
10:48penalize Nishikan Dubey
10:50for calling...
10:51But Ashutosh,
10:52the Congress is not kosher in this,
10:53is it?
10:54No, no, no.
10:55I'm saying,
10:56I'm saying,
10:57I'm saying,
10:57did BJP top leadership
11:00ever ask Nishikan Dubey
11:02not to indulge
11:03in those kind of languages?
11:05Did ever?
11:06No.
11:07So then the BJP
11:08has no right to
11:11to play the victim card.
11:13It's simply a victim card.
11:14It's not,
11:14it will not work.
11:16It has never worked.
11:18The politics
11:19has become so bad,
11:20so bitter,
11:21so polarized,
11:22that now don't expect decency
11:23from either of the party,
11:25either of,
11:26from any of the political parties
11:27or any of the political parties.
11:28But you know,
11:29Ashutosh,
11:29the fact is,
11:30when you say it's never worked,
11:31well,
11:31some would think it has worked.
11:33Every time
11:33the Prime Minister's mother
11:35has been drawn into,
11:36it seemingly worked in Bihar,
11:38some would think,
11:39in parts,
11:40in pockets,
11:40when the Prime Minister's mother
11:42was insulted.
11:43I'll come back to you, sir.
11:43Allow me to come back.
11:44So can the BJP
11:46use it politically?
11:47Rohan Gupta,
11:47you might say,
11:48no,
11:48we have no intention to,
11:50it's just terrible language.
11:51And why will we use it politically?
11:52But it's already being used.
11:54You're taken to the streets.
11:55Each and every leader of yours,
11:58right from top bottom,
12:00is invoking it.
12:011st November,
12:02you are protesting it
12:04on the streets
12:04of the national capital
12:05and across the country.
12:07So you're hoping
12:07that you make political capital
12:10of what was
12:11a highly derogatory statement
12:13by the Congress President.
12:16See, Priti,
12:17whatever we say in debate,
12:18you know,
12:19the people of the country
12:20decides what is right
12:21and what is wrong.
12:22If something is wrong,
12:23obviously,
12:23as a party,
12:24we have to take it
12:25to the streets.
12:26And this is not acceptable.
12:27Prime Minister being insulted
12:28again and again.
12:29And again,
12:30see,
12:30this is the problem
12:31of Congress Party.
12:32They have paid the price
12:32again and again.
12:33that even after that,
12:34they don't want to learn.
12:35See,
12:36we are not the people
12:37who are going to decide.
12:38The BJP is not going to decide
12:39the mood of the people
12:40and you are rightly told.
12:41Even in Bihar,
12:42people have replied
12:42to these kind of things.
12:44Why to indulge into this
12:45and again justifying that?
12:47You have to,
12:47again,
12:48you repeat the same thing
12:4920 years,
12:5030 years,
12:51again and again
12:51and coming from
12:52your top person.
12:54He is the top person
12:55of the Congress Party.
12:56But Rohan Gupta,
12:57it's come from
12:58your top person as well.
13:00What makes you holier than thou?
13:02What makes you take
13:03the high moral ground?
13:05See,
13:06again,
13:06again,
13:06Priti,
13:07I'm saying
13:07what I've clearly told,
13:08if you refer to the examples
13:1020,
13:1030 years before
13:11and again repeat
13:12same thing.
13:12I'll refer to the example
13:13of 2024.
13:14elections after elections.
13:16I'll refer to the example
13:17of 2024.
13:18See,
13:19there are,
13:19it's a different context.
13:20When he was referring to that,
13:22he was referring to Indira Gandhiji
13:23because he was the Prime Minister.
13:25he's not referring to Indira Gandhiji.
13:26One second,
13:27I'll hold your timer.
13:28He wasn't referring to Indira Gandhiji.
13:29We can play the soundbite for you.
13:31He spoke of Rahul Gandhi's nani,
13:34that he's Sonia Gandhi's mother,
13:35who's not even in politics.
13:38That's what I'm saying.
13:38Now, please finish.
13:39again,
13:39I'm not justifying,
13:40Priti,
13:41I'm not,
13:41just,
13:42I'm not justifying
13:43anybody's comments here.
13:44What I'm trying to say,
13:46just saying that,
13:47okay,
13:47we have done this,
13:48so you will do this.
13:49Till what time you will do it?
13:50And let the people decide
13:51who is right
13:52and who is wrong.
13:53It is our responsibility
13:54as right as a BJP
13:55to go to the people.
13:56Let the people decide.
13:58If Mr. Kharge feels
13:59that by doing that,
14:00they will win the trust of people,
14:01we are okay with that.
14:02But I don't think
14:03so this is justified
14:04at any point.
14:05Whether it is by X,
14:06Y,
14:07Z,
14:07as in a public discourse,
14:08we have to ensure
14:09that this kind of language
14:10should be controlled
14:11and not coming from
14:12the top people.
14:13People of the country
14:14decides what is right
14:15and what is wrong
14:16and we should leave it
14:16to the people of the country.
14:18But again and again,
14:19again and again,
14:20coming every next day,
14:21Mr. Rahul Gandhi
14:22from the state
14:23just before 15 days
14:24in Chhatra Kikonj,
14:26he was making
14:26mocking Mr. Modi.
14:27Every day you should
14:28do the same thing.
14:29Is it,
14:30he's a prime minister
14:31or just,
14:32you know,
14:32the reason for you
14:33to joke every day?
14:34You cannot do that.
14:35You absolutely cannot do that.
14:37And let the people decide.
14:39We are happy
14:39if Congress Party
14:40doesn't want to learn
14:41out of this thing.
14:42We are more than okay with that.
14:43We are going to the court
14:44of people.
14:45Okay, fair point.
14:47I want to bring in Rahul Singh
14:48from the Congress
14:49into this conversation back.
14:51Rahul Singh,
14:51the fact is,
14:52Rohan Gupta has a point.
14:54They are happy
14:54because let the people decide.
14:56Every time you have gone
14:57after the prime minister's mother,
14:59this time the father,
15:00or the prime minister himself,
15:02it's backfired.
15:03And politically,
15:05once again,
15:06this might be
15:08not a politically astute
15:10thing to do.
15:12Yesterday,
15:12everybody saw,
15:14if you play the video
15:15in entirety,
15:16how 85-year-old
15:17Congress President
15:18was heckled
15:18by a BJP stooge.
15:21And now,
15:22for the comment
15:24that he made,
15:25the Bhartajanta Party
15:26is protesting
15:26on the 1st of November.
15:28This is a party
15:29which acts
15:29in oxymorons.
15:31Until yesterday,
15:32they were saying
15:32no protest
15:33should be scheduled
15:34on the 1st of November
15:34because the 1st of November,
15:36the Sikh riots
15:36happened in Delhi
15:37and now they are themselves
15:38staging protests
15:39on the 1st of November.
15:40I mean,
15:41what do I even say
15:42about these people?
15:43There is a bunch
15:44of morons
15:44acting in oxymorons.
15:47I would urge you
15:48not to get into,
15:49just keep the abusers out.
15:51No?
15:53That's a pretty
15:54parliamentary word,
15:54Preeti,
15:55though.
15:55It's not an
15:56unparliamentary word,
15:57but regardless,
15:59I mean,
16:00you rightly said,
16:02where does
16:03the Congress Party
16:04stop?
16:04I'll tell you
16:05where does
16:05the Congress Party
16:06stop.
16:06The Congress Party
16:06will stop
16:07when the Bhartajanta
16:08Party stop now.
16:09They started it,
16:10they have to end it.
16:11They started making
16:12below-the-belt comments
16:13on the people
16:14who are not there
16:15with us today.
16:16They made comments
16:17on Jawaharlal Nehru,
16:18they made comments
16:18on Indira Gandhi,
16:19they made comments
16:20on the entire Gandhi
16:21family and the people
16:22of the country.
16:24They made comments
16:25on Ankita Bhandari's
16:26parents and
16:27whosoever spoke
16:28against them,
16:29whosoever did not
16:30align with their
16:31ideology,
16:32whosoever did not
16:32align with what
16:34they say.
16:35And we will stop
16:36only when the
16:37Bhartajanta Party
16:37stop.
16:3985-year-old man
16:40gets heckled
16:41in a public meeting.
16:42Is that justified?
16:44Whatever happens
16:45on the floor
16:45of the parliament,
16:47whatever Amish Biduri
16:47says,
16:48is that justified?
16:49Whatever Chinwayanan
16:50does or whatever
16:52Bridgbushan Sharand Singh
16:53does,
16:53is all of that
16:54justified?
16:55No.
16:55But BJP is just
16:57fixated on making
16:58everything a political
17:00agenda because they
17:01are left with none.
17:03They cannot talk about
17:04the work that they
17:05have done,
17:05they cannot talk about
17:06whatever the country
17:07is talking.
17:07If they have to
17:08protest, come protest
17:09with the students,
17:10come protest with
17:10the people protesting
17:12against SIR and
17:13CEC, no, but
17:14they won't.
17:15They can only make
17:16everything about
17:16Narendra Modi.
17:17It's a megalomanias
17:18party.
17:19Okay, well, it's
17:22final comments,
17:23Rajat Sethi, to
17:23bring you in on
17:24this final comment,
17:26sir.
17:26Two minutes time.
17:29So, well, Preeti
17:30ji, I just heard
17:31the Congress
17:31spokesperson, the
17:32kind of language
17:32that he uses, just
17:35showcases what his
17:36party is made up
17:37of, what kind of
17:38mentoring leaders
17:41like Mr.
17:42Kharge is providing
17:43to these youngsters.
17:44They will turn out
17:45to be bigger abusers
17:46going forward.
17:47This is quite evident.
17:48Any of you viewers
17:49can look up as to
17:50what kind of languages
17:51have just been
17:51uttered on live
17:52television.
17:53You can imagine
17:54what all can happen
17:55once they are given
17:55a free reign.
17:57Again, my point
17:58here is very
17:58straightforward.
17:59You can point out
18:00whether he was
18:00heckled or not.
18:01In fact, there are
18:02a lot of reports
18:02that the gentleman
18:03who was in that
18:04meeting in a
18:05half-filled hall
18:07was actually a
18:07congress worker.
18:08He said that you
18:09will not win.
18:10Modi will come
18:10back because you
18:11have so much of
18:11organizational mess
18:12that you are not
18:13ready to clear.
18:13This is the only
18:15problem with the
18:16Congress party.
18:20Instead, they want
18:21to keep on
18:21deflecting and make
18:23personal jibes,
18:24shift, make
18:25own self-goals.
18:25I think this was
18:26one of the biggest
18:27self-goals when
18:27the entire focus
18:28was around the
18:291st of November
18:29meeting and rally.
18:31They committed
18:32this self-goal and
18:33allowed the BJP
18:35and its entire
18:36cadre base to
18:37spill out on the
18:37streets of Patna
18:38and change the
18:39momentum entirely.
18:39So, if you keep on
18:41doing mistakes, the
18:45Congress party is
18:46trying to carry this
18:47image of this angry
18:49old party.
18:50I don't know what
18:50are they trying to
18:52gain out of this
18:53whole thing.
18:53This is something
18:54which I, from an
18:55analyst perspective,
18:56I am unable to
18:57understand.
18:57They are not winning
18:58voters when you are
18:59abusing people.
19:00It's not like five
19:01additional voters are
19:02getting added because
19:03you have abused the
19:04father of the
19:05honorable prime
19:05minister or you are
19:06abusing the mother of
19:07the prime minister.
19:08You won't get an
19:09additional vote.
19:09Whom are you trying
19:10to basically, you
19:13know, orient your
19:13messages around?
19:14Therefore, I don't
19:16expect much from
19:17Congress party.
19:18These are the true
19:18colors.
19:19This is the true
19:20DNA of this, you
19:21know, hyper
19:21aggressive, emergency
19:24unleashing party.
19:25The kind of sick
19:27riots in party.
19:29This is what they do.
19:30This is the language
19:30which is very close
19:31to them, very natural.
19:32Therefore, this entire
19:33Mohibbat ki Dukaan
19:34was a sharaad.
19:35Okay.
19:36The gloves are off
19:38it seems, Ashutosh.
19:39The language which
19:40was on social media
19:41sometimes being
19:42peddled by bona fide
19:44party handles,
19:45be it the Congress
19:46and the BJP.
19:47Now, you know,
19:48it's all out.
19:49It's all out there.
19:52See, Priti, I did
19:53a little research
19:55and I found out
19:56that who started
19:58this.
19:59April 2004,
20:02then Chief
20:03Minister of Gujarat,
20:04Mr. Narendra Modi
20:05called Sonia Gandhi
20:08Jarsikau
20:09and Rahul Gandhi
20:11hybrid bachala.
20:13That was in
20:13April 2004.
20:152007,
20:17Sonia Gandhi
20:18called Mautka
20:18Sadagar.
20:20Now,
20:21the bogey
20:22which is being created
20:22that's in Sonia Gandhi
20:23called Mautka Sadagar,
20:25so that is acceptable.
20:26But when
20:26Prime Minister,
20:28as a Chief
20:29Minister,
20:29when he was
20:29campaigning for the
20:302004 parliamentary
20:31election,
20:32he used these
20:32kind of languages.
20:34So,
20:35where we go
20:36from here?
20:37You call
20:38somebody's
20:38wife as a
20:3940-krona
20:40girlfriend
20:40and then
20:41you get a
20:42sermon
20:42that this
20:44language
20:45will not be
20:46Then,
20:47who's to be
20:47blamed?
20:48But let's
20:49also talk
20:50about this.
20:51Does it get
20:52any brownie
20:53points with
20:54the people?
20:54Does anybody
20:55get benefited
20:56out of it?
20:56No.
20:57It's a myth.
20:58It's a myth
20:59that the
20:592014 parliamentary
21:01election was
21:01decided because
21:02somebody called
21:03Manish Shankar
21:04used certain
21:05language against
21:05the Prime
21:06Minister.
21:06No.
21:07If Indian
21:08politics is so
21:09simple,
21:10election is so
21:10simple,
21:11then anybody
21:12can abuse
21:13anybody and
21:13can win the
21:14election or
21:14lose the
21:15election.
21:15That's not a
21:15fact.
21:16The fact of
21:16the matter
21:17is that in
21:172014,
21:18the Congress
21:19had serious
21:20problems with
21:21the voters
21:23and that's
21:23why the
21:24Congress lost.
21:24So,
21:25this bogey
21:25that somebody
21:26is abusing
21:27Prime Minister
21:28and that is
21:28why Congress
21:29is losing
21:29the battle,
21:30it's over
21:31simplification.
21:32And I can
21:32tell you from
21:33my experience,
21:34after 2014,
21:35the kind of
21:36language has
21:36been used
21:37against me,
21:38the personal
21:39attacks which
21:39I have suffered
21:40in the last
21:4112 years,
21:42from where it
21:43came.
21:44Before 2014,
21:45I was running
21:47a TV channel
21:48and the head
21:48of the channel
21:48and an anchor
21:49never used,
21:51never got these
21:51kind of languages
21:52from any
21:52political party.
21:53So,
21:54why this
21:54started after
21:552014 in the
21:56national discourse
21:57on the TV
21:57channel?
21:59Sir,
21:59time is up.
22:00That's all the
22:01time I have
22:01for this
22:02debate.
22:03Sadly,
22:04this will be
22:04the discourse
22:05we'll carry
22:05through over
22:06the next
22:06couple of
22:07months.
22:07We have
22:08some big
22:08ticket elections
22:09coming up
22:09and usually
22:11history stands
22:11testimony that
22:12right before
22:13big elections,
22:15political discourse
22:16such as this
22:16is very normal,
22:17sadly so.
22:18Thank you,
22:19all four of you
22:19for joining us.
22:20Appreciate it.
