00:00Some of the most revealing Beatles memorabilia is not a guitar or handwritten lyric,
00:05but an everyday object with a story attached.
00:07A strangely shaped whiskey bottle once owned by John Lennon
00:10has joined the collection at the Liverpool Beatles Museum.
00:13The Beatles going out to New York in 1968
00:17because they opened a wing of Apple Corps in New York.
00:22They do a press conference out there announcing it,
00:25which if you've ever seen the press conference, it's absolutely hilarious.
00:29I think it's a brilliant press conference.
00:31But after the press conference, they're walking through New York
00:34and they just walk past, you know, one of those,
00:39I don't know how you'd explain the kind of store,
00:43but, you know, it's got a bit of this, a bit of that, a bit of this, a bit of
00:46that.
00:46Your hats, your this, your that.
00:48And John saw a whiskey bottle in the store window
00:52and he absolutely loved it and turned to my dad
00:56and basically went, that's what whiskey does to me.
00:59And the reason he said, that's what whiskey does to me
01:02is because this whiskey bottle was basically elongated and twisted.
01:08You know, he liked it so much.
01:10He went into the store, bought the whiskey bottle.
01:14It came back to the UK with him.
01:16I was with John right up to the point where he moved to New York with Yoko
01:21and he left many items behind then.
01:24And it was a little bit the items he was leaving behind.
01:27Does anyone want this? Does anyone want that?
01:30And my father was like, oh, I'll have that.
01:32The item's now on display at the museum on Matthew Street,
01:35offering visitors another personal link to the band's history.
01:39Well, there's only 10% of the collection
01:41in Liverpool Beesles Museum at the moment.
01:45I always said we'd keep adding and adding.
01:48We haven't reached a point here, yes, where we've started to rotate.
01:54But I don't think we're far off that.
01:56I think within the next 12 months, we will start to rotate items
02:00because we are running out of space.
02:03You know, we can't have the whole collection here at one time.
02:06The building would have to be four or five times the size that it is
02:10to accommodate that.
02:11The display comes as Liverpool prepares for another major Beatles attraction,
02:15with Apple Corp planning to move the Beatles story
02:18to a new city centre home in 2028.
02:21I think it's absolutely wonderful for Liverpool.
02:25Liverpool has been Beatles' mecca.
02:29Apple coming along and saying, right,
02:31the Beatles are now going to have a presence there themselves.
02:34It's wonderful for the city.
02:36I believe it will bring more tourism into the city,
02:38which will create more jobs, which will boost our economy.
02:42All these things are wonderful for Liverpool.
02:45But if what they're saying they're going to do
02:48with their Beatles story experience,
02:50I think that what we do and what they're doing
02:53will complement each other.
02:55At the end of the day, it's all about their legacy.
02:58I think that's us all about their mummy truck everything the country
02:59I think that's適当 bij for a report,
