00:00Let's begin with Mike Vrabel.
00:01Mike Vrabel was asked yesterday at his press conference
00:04if the Patriots will be active at the trade deadline,
00:07if they're looking to add.
00:09We can hear from Coach Vrabel.
00:11I mean, every time I say, you know, I mean,
00:13we're going to try to do everything we can to help the team.
00:16I don't know if we will or we won't.
00:18I would imagine that we'll try to do everything that we can
00:22to help us within reason and make sense for us.
00:26And I don't know how you want to interpret that,
00:28but I'm sure we'll listen and talk just like everybody else does.
00:34Do you think the Colts are actually going to unload Jonathan Taylor?
00:39They have to.
00:40Yeah.
00:40Okay.
00:41You wasted two first-round picks in acquiring Sauce Gardner,
00:45which has been since that moment an unmitigated disaster,
00:48in large part probably because Daniel Jones tore his Achilles
00:51or he turned back into a pumpkin or both.
00:53I don't know.
00:54But regardless, like, it has been an absolute nightmare there.
00:58You have to recoup whatever picks you can,
01:00and that means selling off a lot of your good players,
01:03including a guy like Jonathan Taylor.
01:04But I don't think you're getting a ton back for a guy like Jonathan Taylor.
01:08You could get a second back for Jonathan Taylor.
01:12Yeah, maybe you might be right.
01:13I was thinking more like third, fourth, but you could be right.
01:15You could get a second.
01:16Maybe third and a player.
01:17Like, if you get a young player,
01:19that might be able to help you as part of your future.
01:21Like, I think a third and a player is fine.
01:23But, like, I'm thinking you're getting a second-round pick for Jonathan Taylor.
01:25The other guy, too, on their defensive line is DeForest Buckner,
01:29I think is their defensive tackle.
01:31I think he would garner some value as well.
01:33It's another guy they should probably trade.
01:34I guess the question is,
01:35would you give up a second-round pick for Jonathan Taylor
01:38who just signed a two-year deal, I believe, or something like that?
01:41Yeah.
01:42If I'm the Patriots, I'm not.
01:43But I think a team like the Vikings should be interested.
01:47They seem to be.
01:48Yeah, because then they just have the Vikings had, who was it,
01:50Jones go down with an injury?
01:52Yeah, and I think Jordan Mason just came back off IR.
01:55But, I mean, either way, neither of those guys are great.
01:57But when you look at the Patriots, like, where would you say,
02:01like, all right, they need help?
02:03Offensive line.
02:04All right.
02:05Offensive line, I could see.
02:06Obviously, I agree with that.
02:09Did they need help at the running back position?
02:11I would say yes, but, like, not worth a second-round pick of help.
02:14Right, like, if you could get another depth guy that could rotate in
02:19instead of, you know, Corey Kiner, all respect to him,
02:21but another depth guy for, like, a fifth or a sixth-rounder, then yes, I'm in.
02:24I mean, they need help when it comes to the run game.
02:28There were – I didn't necessarily hear it this way,
02:31but there were some yesterday who read into Mike Vrabel on this show
02:37talking about being unable to –
02:40he basically said we can improve the things that we can improve
02:44and not improve the things we can or whatever.
02:47We can go back and hear it again.
02:49Yeah, I remember him saying that.
02:50But what they were – people who listened to that yesterday
02:53were posting about it and saying it is him basically saying
02:57that the run game, they're just never going to be able to improve it
03:00and they just have to be okay with that.
03:02And I would ask, okay, we've talked about this before.
03:04I don't know if you heard it that way or not.
03:05I know.
03:06I heard what he said.
03:07I didn't know, like, I wasn't thinking about it.
03:10It was the run game.
03:12But is it the running backs or is it the offensive lines?
03:17Because you're hitting in the nail on the head, 100%.
03:19That's why you can't fix it.
03:21It's because you just have so many injuries on the offensive line.
03:24You can't get the same group out there to work together seven days a week,
03:28you know, 12 weeks in a row.
03:30Yeah.
03:31And I think that's a big issue.
03:32Some people took it as a shot at Josh McDaniels,
03:35which I don't think it was.
03:37I didn't take it that way.
03:38People were also, like, I saw a lot of people on Twitch or on X saying his response
03:43when it came to, I believe, Greg's question about Drake May being, like,
03:46I can tell Drake what he needs to do if he listens.
03:50Like, he made some comment about that.
03:53About the running.
03:53Yeah.
03:54Oh, yeah.
03:55And I did not take that as, like, a slight to Drake either.
04:00I didn't.
04:00All right.
04:01That we are just not going to be able to improve on.
04:04Right.
04:04I don't know what that is or what he meant by that.
04:07Yeah.
04:07I have no idea.
04:09But the suggestion is it's the run game,
04:12and they're just never going to be able to improve on that.
04:16See, I wouldn't say that because I think, Courtney,
04:19then you asked the question about the run game,
04:21and he kind of, you know, was a little bit like.
04:24I didn't like that one.
04:24Yeah, but I think it was to the point, like.
04:27It is to the point.
04:28It's like your quarterback had 26 yards rushing,
04:31and he led your guys.
04:33Your running backs had 44 combined.
04:36Is that an issue, or is that just.
04:39Clearly, that's not the plan.
04:40Right.
04:41And I think clearly, like, he knows, like, all right,
04:43the plan can't be, like, we're going to move forward
04:46without knowing that we don't have a run game.
04:48Like, I don't think Vrabel's thinking that in any way.
04:51I think he's like.
04:51Well, you don't often hear a coach who says
04:55we're not going to be able,
04:56we're just not going to be able to improve on this.
04:58But he didn't say that.
04:59Like, there's no way, like, Vrabel's like,
05:01all right, you know what?
05:02We can't run the ball.
05:03That's, you know, but we're not going to be able to improve on.
05:05All right, so what does he mean?
05:06I don't know what he means.
05:07I don't look at it as.
05:08What can't you play the game?
05:09What can't you improve on?
05:14I think, like, there are certain things,
05:17like, you can't improve on when it comes to, like,
05:18this is a person's specific talent ceiling.
05:23Like, you can't expect a wide receiver to be a home run hitter
05:29if that's not what he is.
05:31Is this the talent ceiling of the running game, then?
05:34Is that what he's saying?
05:35Like, we can only take this running game.
05:37Like, against bad defenses, we can run the football.
05:39Against good defenses, we're not going to be able to run the football.
05:43Yeah, I just, it's like.
05:45It's interesting.
05:45Very interesting.
05:46Yeah, so I think that they're probably trying to figure it out,
05:49and it comes down to, like I've always said,
05:51the run game comes down to two things.
05:53Are the offensive linemen not getting blocked?
05:55Are they having issues in the blocking game?
05:57Which is then allowing your, not allowing your running back to get going.
06:02Or are they doing a good job blocking up,
06:04but your running back is just not finding the holes?
06:06Okay.
