A rift has emerged within Maharashtra's ruling Mahayuti alliance following the Legislative Council elections, with the Bharatiya Janata Party criticising ally Shiv Sena, led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The BJP alleged that the Shiv Sena prioritised its own interests over the coalition by backing an independent candidate rather than supporting the alliance's official nominees, including the Nationalist Congress Party candidate in Pune. While the BJP candidate ultimately emerged victorious in the Pune Teachers Constituency, the alliance witnessed cross-voting friction across the five seats contested in the state.
