00:00When I walk into a room for the first time, I always bring my confidence.
00:04I always bring grace.
00:06Intuition.
00:07I always wear my heart on my sleeve.
00:08So I think first impressions are really important.
00:11I think when you're first meeting people, it can often be quite stressful, but I think
00:15the most important thing is to remain comfortable, because if you're comfortable, other people
00:19will also be comfortable as well.
00:21So usually when I meet someone, if it's someone my age or it's in a more casual environment
00:25not the workplace, I say, hi, I'm Serena fucking Kerrigan.
00:30It shows that I'm confident in myself and that I like myself and that I'm sure of myself.
00:35And then all of a sudden what that does is it makes them pay attention.
00:39One of the biggest things to have in mind when you're walking into a new situation where you
00:43might be meeting someone new is to really go in with confidence.
00:46Build yourself up a little and really think about your positive traits that you can bring
00:50to any situation.
00:51You have come to me as this person, I have come to you as this person, and somehow, some
00:57way we're going to make this work.
00:58And sometimes it doesn't, maybe it's not a merriment.
01:00But there's a good chance it might, even if we're completely different.
01:05Making a lasting impression isn't about taking off items on a checklist.
01:10It's about being a person and recognizing that the person that you're talking to is another
01:14human and they have all of those same vulnerabilities and fears and anxieties that you do.
01:19So try to make a connection.
01:20You're awesome and you're unique and it's really important to remember that, although
01:25it's sometimes hard.
01:26If I don't love myself, why would anyone else want to love me?
01:28So it's like if you like yourself and you're like, if you're sure of yourself, then other
01:32people immediately are going to like you too.
01:35So something I always remind myself is to go with my gut.
01:38I think that it's so important when you're walking into new situations to be bold, to be
01:42confident and to be yourself.
01:43My thing is I love to do self-care rituals.
01:47Every time I'm meeting someone for the first time so that I feel as confident as possible.
01:54I like to use the thing that I'm most confident about, which is my sense of humor, as a tool
02:01when getting to know people for the first time.
02:03It's important to have a good handshake and to keep eye contact at the same time.
02:08The saggy handshake like kills me.
02:11My favorite is a nice, bold red lipstick.
02:15That really makes me go into a room and think that I can rock this.
02:20If my red lipstick and my bold choice of color is what people remember, I'll take it.
02:27I feel like I put everything I possibly can, political views, everything out on the outside
02:33so that people can go on ahead and get that out of the way and then you're just dealing
02:37with me as a human being.
02:39If you're just assuming to know me by the way I look, then that's a flaw in your character
02:45and not mine.
