00:07Hi, this is Connie Wang from Refinery29, and we're with Christy Kurtz, our photo editor and resident DIY expert.
00:14One of Spring's most coveted accessories trends were graphic bags that we saw at Marlin, Mark by Mark, and Parenza
00:20Schooler.
00:21Today, we're going to show you how to make your very own.
00:23For this project, you need just a few things.
00:25An inexpensive bag with a smooth surface, vinyl paint, a small dish and a spoon, a circular stencil, a ruler,
00:33a small paintbrush, and a fine tip sharpie.
00:35So, with the bag that we found, it has these two circles already on it.
00:39So, we're going to use that as a starting point for our circles and dots on the bag.
00:43The first thing you want to do is measure the distance between these two rings.
00:46That way, you know the exact middle that you can have a line of dots go down the bag.
00:51So, you're going to start from the ring, and we're going to make a small dot, and that's going to
00:56be the top of our first circle.
00:58With your circle stencil, you can use whatever size dots you want.
01:01We decided to use the one in an eighth of an inch, because that was closest to the size of
01:05these rings on the bag.
01:07You want to line up the circle stencil directly underneath the ring on the bag, and draw it in with
01:12your fine tip sharpie.
01:15Ta-da!
01:16To make the next dot, just measure two more inches down, make a little mark, and that's where we're going
01:21to put the next dot.
01:22So, now that we have two rows of dots, we're going to find where the dots go in the very
01:26center.
01:27Now, this is about seven inches, so half of seven inches is three and a half, and that's right here.
01:32So, that's going to be the center of your next dot.
01:38So, you're going to do the same thing to make the outer row of dots.
01:40So, we're going to measure three and a half, it gets from one to one, so three and a half
01:44more inches, or at seven.
01:50So, now that you have all of the dots drawn on, it's time to start painting.
01:55Now, we're going to use a little dish to dilute our acrylic paint for vinyl.
01:59So, just put a scoop of this, and a little bit of that, same way.
02:07That's perfect.
02:10Now that the paint's diluted, you want to start painting in the dots.
02:13Start in the middle and work your way out, so you don't accidentally put your hand in the paint.
02:18It's okay if the paint starts to separate on the vinyl, that's why we specifically chose an acrylic paint for
02:23vinyl.
02:24Just let it separate, and then we'll go back and do a second coat on the dots, so they're solid.
02:29So, just wait ten minutes, the paint dries super, super quick, and you basically are ready to go.
02:34It doesn't need a top coat or anything like that, because it is waterproof.
02:38So, ta-da, and here you have it, your graphic polka dotted bag.
02:58That is η map of the second coat,іс to how it's here.
