00:09and we can get some serious inspiration from past decades.
00:12Some of our favorite trends here at Refinery29 are throwbacks.
00:16So today, me and two of my fellow R29ers are going to take some binzu tear trends and make them
00:20a bit more modern.
00:21Julia is kicking us off with a little 60s-inspired Bridget Bardot look.
00:25Next, we have Sarah, who will be doing a take on this 20s-inspired Gatsby look.
00:30It all finishes up with this 40s-era pinup girls, pinup curls look.
00:33And let's get started.
00:36For Julia's look, you're going to start with a few products.
00:38Bobby pins, hair ties, hair spray, dry shampoo, and a curling iron.
00:44Step one, apply a layer of dry shampoo to your roots and brush through your hair for added texture.
00:49Step two, use a comb to section your hair and leave out a few main sections.
00:53Step three, secure the remainder of your hair with hair tie.
00:57Step four, start twisting the pony and pin as you go.
01:00This will give you the freedom to create your desired shape.
01:03Julia loves the messy bun look, so that's what she's creating.
01:07Step five, curl the long pieces first, then work your way to the front.
01:10Curl away from your face.
01:11And there you have it. I'm loving this look on Julia.
01:18For this 20s-inspired look, you're going to need a few things.
01:21Hairspray, gel, water, a comb, and some cool vintage clips.
01:26Step one, spray your hair down so you get that fresh out of the shower look.
01:29Work the water all the way through your hair.
01:32Step two, section your hair so you can really get your hair slick.
01:36Step three, add a dime-sized amount of gel to your hands.
01:39Move the gel throughout your hair, starting from the roots and work your way down.
01:44And if you need more, you can always build it up.
01:49Step four, it's time to wave.
01:52Add a little excess gel to the last section.
01:55Here's where it gets tricky.
01:56Pull your hair back, hold down with your finger, pull your hair down, and then add the clip.
02:03Hold the clip in place as you pull back to style the second swirl.
02:09Adjust the clips to your liking.
02:12For the final steps, douse your hair in hairspray.
02:15And there you have it, a really easy, sleek look.
02:20For the final look, we're going to do some victory roll curls.
02:23All you need for this trick are bobby pins.
02:25So I'm going to separate my hair into small sections.
02:27Using my fingers, I'm going to roll my hair underneath, moving toward my face,
02:31until I hit the top.
02:33Then I'm going to take the curls, lay them flat against my head,
02:35and pin them in place using the bobby pins.
02:37I'm going to do two on one side and one on the other.
02:40The more asymmetrical, the better.
02:42And that's the final look.
02:44As you can see, it's a really easy trick.
