00:06Hey everyone, it's Taylor from Refinery29. One of the questions I get asked the most is
00:10how to apply false lashes. So today I'm going to show you a couple of simple steps on how
00:15to achieve that. Wearing false lashes is going to open your eyes and give your overall look
00:19a more glam feel. For the perfect application, I'll be using the MAC Full Strip Lashes in
00:24No. 36, which I'll be applying with a duo adhesive. To blend the lashes into the lash line, I'll
00:30be using the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner and setting the lashes with the Malley Volumizing
00:37Mascara. I'll be curling the lashes with a Tweezerman metal eyelash curler. The tools that may help
00:42you with this are small cosmetic scissors, Q-tips, and a tweezers. Today I'm going to show you
00:48how to apply a full strip lash. I'm going to be using the MAC No. 36 lash, which is going
00:53to give me length and volume. Before we apply the false lashes, you're going to want to curl
00:57your natural lashes and apply a coat of mascara. This is going to help to blend the two lashes
01:02into each other naturally. The first step to getting a good lash application is making
01:06sure that the strip fits your lash line. You want the lashes to not poke you on the inside
01:12and to come right to the edge of your natural lash line. So something like this is going to
01:17be great. Another easy way to apply the lashes is by literally cutting the full strip in half.
01:22You'll be able to apply each section by itself and match them up more naturally. I'm going
01:27to be using the Duo Adhesive Glue. This is a latex surgical glue, so if you're allergic
01:32to latex, I do not recommend using it. MAC lashes do not come with glue, but a lot of lashes
01:37on the market do. Make sure that you're choosing one that has a clear, drying lash glue so that
01:42it doesn't look all clumpy and gross on your lid. I like to apply the lash glue to the lashes
01:48with a Q-tip so that I don't get too much on it. Pick up a tiny bit on the
01:51end of the Q-tip,
01:55and holding the lashes by the hair, you're going to want to barely press the glue onto the lash
02:03strip. So your lashes should just have a light white line on them. At this point, some people
02:09might just dive right in, but bad idea. The lash glue is still super slippery and your lashes
02:14are not going to stick to the lash line. So you can either blow on it or wave it around
02:19like I do. You're going to want to make sure that the lash glue dries about half of what
02:25it should. So starting with the lash at a 90 degree angle, you're going to literally just
02:30place it as close to the lash line as you can. Don't be afraid if it gets on the actual
02:35hair
02:36of your lashes, that's totally okay. And now, working from the inside, you want to just guide
02:43the lashes where you want them. At this point, I like to take something like a Q-tip or tweezers,
02:51but be careful if you're doing that, and sort of just press the lashes down a little. Once you've
02:57applied your lashes and the glue has dried, you can go in with your eyelash curler to curl them all
03:02so they look more even. To make sure that your lashes are blended in naturally, we're going
03:06to take an eyeliner and gently smudge it against your lash line. This will help kind of camouflage
03:11any of the strip that's on your lashes still. The last step to the false lash application
03:16is to apply a coat of mascara on both your lashes and the false lashes. I start with the mascara
03:22along my natural lashes and lightly pull it up into the false lashes. Using the tip to give a little
03:30bit more texture to the false lashes. Don't forget the bottoms to blend in. Don't get discouraged
03:37if you don't get it on the first try. Getting a good lash takes practice, and luckily, lashes
03:42are reusable and not permanent. And voila, a super sexy open eye look.
