00:08We don't have a shared experience and a shared narrative anymore.
00:13And nothing that I do is going to change the way things are.
00:16And that's what our kids feel, and I feel like that's what they're taught.
00:21It's not a lack of information that we have right now.
00:24But just because I can read about somebody in Chicago or in Florida or Washington State,
00:30doesn't mean I feel for them.
00:33This is what America looks like!
00:36The ability to hear others, to really understand and hear what they're saying, and to feel it.
00:45This is just the beginning. I'm very clear about that.
00:48My personal hope is to evoke a new politics that brings justice, empathy, love into the center of who we
00:57are as Americans and our community.
01:02People have often said to me as a police officer, man, it's surprising that you're human.
01:07We often forget that we are also dealing with humans that have the same needs, the same desires that we
01:13do.
01:15We need to get together, roll up our sleeves, and do something about it.
01:20Boosh! Door down! Let's go!
01:27Empathy Lab is a bunch of smart people who are putting the best kind of design and innovation techniques toward
01:34the greatest problem of our time.
01:37We have this hunch that empathy can change the world.
01:41And the lab is an opportunity to subject that hunch to a series of experiments.
01:58When you go back home, remember how you felt.
02:02What made you that instinct, that gut, that said I gotta get on a bus, a plane, a train, no
02:10matter what.
02:10Take it back with you to wherever it is that you came from today.
02:21If we're able to activate empathy en masse, we truly can transform our world.
