00:06Women in the US make 77 cents to every man's dollar.
00:10Black women make 60 cents.
00:12And Hispanic women make 55 cents.
00:15That's crazy.
00:16That's really disappointing.
00:18Being set back doubly because of my race and gender is not like super encouraging.
00:24I think these stats about black women and Hispanic women are the ones that get left out too much in
00:28this conversation.
00:28Those are so staggering.
00:30I'm screwed because I'm black and Hispanic and a woman.
00:33At this rate, women would need to work at least 60 more days to reach the salary of a man
00:38with the same job.
00:43That is unacceptable.
00:5062% of millennials did not negotiate the first salary.
00:54That seems very real.
00:55Have I ever negotiated my salary?
00:58No.
00:59No.
01:01Yes, I have negotiated my salary every time I've been given a job offer.
01:05Yes, but it took a really long time.
01:07Sometimes you have to take risks.
01:08Sometimes you have to believe in yourself.
01:11There's a lot of faking it until you make it, for sure.
01:14I definitely negotiate my first salary offer because I do not believe that the first offer they make is the
01:19highest I'll ever go.
01:2088% of women do not have access to paid maternity leave.
01:24Almost a quarter of new mothers are back on the job within two weeks.
01:28After giving birth.
01:29You should have seen me after two weeks.
01:31It was a mess.
01:32If you're a single mom and on public aid and you have three kids already, you will not get any
01:39time.
01:39As someone who is approaching maternity leave myself, it's criminal that women have to go back to work so quickly.
01:48Women's confidence in their ability to reach leadership levels drops by 60%.
01:52After just two years on the job.
01:54So we go in thinking we can be the boss and then we get discouraged immediately.
01:59Women are always too afraid to ask for more because we believe that we may not get the job.
02:06They might go with somebody else who's more thankful.
02:08Talking about and encouraging women's confidence in the workplace is super important.
02:12And another guy was hired to do the exact same job as I was.
02:16And a few weeks into it, he turned around and told me that he was making twice as much money
02:21as me.
02:21And he was very excited to tell me this and was like, oh, well, I'm sure you'll eventually get there.
02:26You can go yourself.
02:27I hate that.
02:29Oh my God.
02:30I hate that.
02:31Well, they just don't get it.
02:33Eventually.
02:34We're hanging on this word of eventually and possibility.
02:38And those things don't happen until we make them happen.
02:42Eventually is now and I deserve it now.
02:4460% of all black businesses are run by women.
02:48Yes.
02:49Slang.
02:50Well, this is great.
02:53That's awesome.
02:54That just shows the potential women have.
02:56I like that stat.
02:58I like that.
02:58Black magic.
03:0060% of all businesses should be run by women.
03:03Women are incredibly strong.
03:04We give birth.
03:04We breastfeed.
03:05We have periods every month.
03:07We can definitely do these hard things like asking for more money.
03:11We want more negotiations.
03:13We want more out of our first offer.
03:16We want more legislation.
03:17We want more representation.
03:19We want salary transparency.
03:21We want paid leave for all new parents.
03:23We want a seat at the table.
03:25We want equality.
03:26Equality.
03:27Equality.
03:28Equality.
03:29Equality.
03:29Equality.
03:30Equality.
03:30We deserve equality.
