00:05I'm with my work wife BFF Lucy B. Fink and today we are trying out DIY
00:10galaxy lipstick and it's gonna be out of this world, I think. Let's go.
00:23The galaxy trend is nothing new. We've seen galaxy everything.
00:28I had galaxy leggings, galaxy brownies, galaxy chocolate, galaxy toilet cover seats, is that a thing?
00:37And another galaxy thing that we're gonna do today is make galaxy lipstick.
00:42I've seen this galaxy trend exploding all over the internet but I've actually never seen how galaxy lipstick is made
00:48so I'm relying on you to teach me.
00:49I think it's going to be stellar.
00:52Interstellar.
00:53What we need in order to make this DIY galaxy lipstick is eyeshadow palettes.
00:59Lucy's gonna go with more of a matte eyeshadow
01:01and then she can add glitter later and mine are already a little bit shimmery.
01:06We also need our mixing bowls.
01:10And today we're gonna be using EOS lip balm but you can also use shea butter or beeswax.
01:15We have toothpicks, an empty chapstick container, and last but not least is a lipstick tube.
01:24We will take out these lipsticks and we'll use it to put our galaxy lipstick in once it's all hardened.
01:30So we'll have something pretty that we can show off to the world.
01:34So it seems like we've got a lot of moving parts here and a lot of different items orbiting the
01:40table.
01:40So I think we should just blast off and get right into it.
01:44Ready for takeoff.
01:45Over.
01:46So the first step is to cut out your eyeshadow colors from a palette.
01:53Ha!
01:54Empty them into one of your mixing bowls.
01:57Sweet.
01:58Okay so it's important to have two contrasting colors that way you can really see the galaxy swirling.
02:05So I have this darker gold metallic color and so I'm gonna use a lighter pinkish purple.
02:14Okay I'm going pink and purple as my two colors.
02:18And that was a lot more suave than round one.
02:21I'm putting glitter in mine because yours came naturally glitterified.
02:24Mine didn't.
02:25So I'm adding some silver glitter to my pink and I'm gonna add some gold glitter to my purple.
02:33This kind of looks edible.
02:35Would you try it?
02:36Because I usually taste everything I make.
02:38It's another tesla blues.
02:39Next you need to grab spoons and you're gonna take your lip balm, one for each.
02:45You scoop it out and we're gonna mush it together to make the base that we need.
02:52Right now we're mashing our Eos chapstick in with our eyeshadow and glitter.
02:56And it's proving really difficult.
02:59Once your color and the balm have been mixed together, you put them in a microwave until
03:03they are fully melted.
03:06Houston, we need a microwave.
03:15This is amazing.
03:16This is absolutely beautiful.
03:18Okay so once these are melted you've gotta go quickly because otherwise they will harden.
03:21So you pour one color into the other.
03:24Okay.
03:25Now you take your empty chapstick container and we pour the mixture into it.
03:31Next up, we tap it and we freeze it for 10 minutes.
03:35So while the galaxy lipstick is freezing, we are going to cut out these lipsticks so that
03:42we have a pretty container to put the galaxy lipstick into.
03:48Once the lipsticks are ready from Pluto or the freezer, open them up and twist all the
03:56way so we get all of the lipstick out of the container.
03:58Oh wow, there is a galaxy in my lipstick.
04:03Like butter.
04:05And because the actual tube of chapstick might be a little bit longer than the lipstick container,
04:11you might have to chop off a little bit off from the top.
04:14The big reveal.
04:15The big bang.
04:16The big dipper.
04:20Ooh.
04:21Wow.
04:22I'm into it.
04:23I would actually wear this color out and if we were going out, I think I would probably
04:26line it because that would just make it pop just that much more.
04:31Yeah, it feels so smooth on my lips.
04:33I think I wouldn't equate it to the feeling of lipstick.
04:36It feels more like a lip gloss or like a chapstick.
04:38Right.
04:39It's moisturizing.
04:40All in all, I think it was a wild success.
