00:00We learned today, Jeff Simmons, they're the biggest nose tackle, defensive tackle guy.
00:10That's player in the league, in the league, in the league, the Bears clearly pushing all
00:17in on this season.
00:18They gave up so much for doing so, but two ones and a four, two ones, two ones, defensive
00:25tackle or defensive tackle.
00:30Yeah.
00:31Did they overpay?
00:32Listen, if they win a Super Bowl, who cares?
00:34They did not overpay.
00:35Right.
00:35Exactly.
00:37Even if they get to the Super Bowl, I think they think they can get to the Super Bowl with
00:42this team.
00:42I do.
00:43Wow.
00:44Yeah.
00:44I think they think they could get there.
00:46Yeah, I do.
00:47Now, I think they can too.
00:50I mean, this is the team that I like to go to the Super Bowl, but I personally could not
00:54have endorsed giving up two first round picks for a D tackle.
00:57There's no way.
00:58As good as Simmons is.
01:00Like, you know, we see these guys coming and these guys, these D tackles, like some
01:07of them play a long time, some break down, man.
01:09You know, and, you know, the only D tackle in the last 10 years better than him is Aaron
01:15Donald.
01:15That's it.
01:16Like, that's the list.
01:17Aaron Donald's the only one better.
01:19Simmons, a Hall of Famer, by the way.
01:21Franchise player.
01:22But, and the Bears paid through the nose on this one, so they better be good.
01:26But yeah, I think, Joe, it's fair to say that the Bears are all in for now.
01:32It's a great year to go all in.
01:34If you're them, you don't have to sit and look at KC.
01:37You don't have to sit and look at Buffalo.
01:39You don't have to sit and look at Lamar with Baltimore.
01:42This is like the American League.
01:44Honestly, like, I mean, San Francisco is the only team in the way, Joe.
01:48And I think that you probably, you know, we may get to the NFC Championship.
01:53You and I will be sitting here in January.
01:54I got a feeling you and I are going to take whoever San Francisco is playing and take the
01:58points in the NFC Championship.
01:59I think we probably will be there.
02:01So why not the Bears?
02:02Why not Seattle?
02:03The NFC is wide open, Joe.
02:05Absolutely wide open.
02:06If Carolina doesn't step up and become the team that I thought that they looked like they're
02:12going to be, that division stinks.
02:15The East stinks.
02:16The West has one team.
02:19You know, the Bears division is probably the best division in the NFC.
02:22So, yeah, kudos to the Bears for going for it.
02:26But, man, this better pay off.
02:29I'm looking at his numbers right here.
02:32Last season, Simmons had 11 sacks on the season.
02:36The entire front defensive lineman for the Bears last year had a total of 10 and a half.
02:45So the entire defensive line didn't have as many sacks as Simmons had last year.
02:52I mean, there is no doubt he's a game changer.
02:56Much like I would compare him, and you tell me if this is fair or not, Chris Jones and Kansas
03:02City
03:02and what he brought to the table there where, are you running now?
03:07Because to me, the biggest part about not liking the Bears was the defense.
03:12Like, you're going to be able to run on them.
03:15You're going to be able to get play action.
03:17You're going to be able to pay.
03:19You just, and granted, you gave it up, but you just, you solved a big problem right now in this.
03:26So I think this is going to be fascinating.
03:30You have to believe, though, if you're Ryan Pauls, the GM, you have to believe you have everything it takes,
03:37and this was the one piece you were missing to give up two number ones.
03:41No?
03:42Otherwise?
03:42Yeah, no, I think so.
03:44Yeah, I think so.
03:45The comparison you gave of Chris Jones, which is a good one, a lot of people are saying that this
03:49is the equivalent.
03:51If you want to go back about 15 years, this is the equivalent of, hypothetically, Joe,
03:57in his prime, the Bears getting Warren Sapp.
04:00Sapp, that's the, that's the, even though we don't like Sapp as a person, we all agree, he's the worst.
04:06But as a player, this is like getting that guy up the middle, who is in the Hall of Fame,
04:13who for five, six years with Tampa Bay was the very best player at his position in the NFL.
04:17He couldn't run up the middle.
04:19You had to block him with two guys.
04:21You know, he wasn't to the level of Aaron Donald, because Aaron Donald, I think,
04:25was maybe the best to ever play the position or close to it.
04:28But, like, just a step below that, that's where Jeffrey Simmons is.
04:32And, and, you, I guess Tennessee, you know, you kind of look at it from their perspective, Joe.
04:38You also, I think, have to say, fair to say, for Tennessee, great trade for them, too.
04:42Because Simmons clearly wasn't happy, and the Titans are not winning anything this year.
04:46They're not winning anything next year.
04:48And now you can, you can stare at the Titans and say,
04:51maybe this team is not going to be the most anonymous team in the NFL.
04:54Like, to me, that's who they are.
04:56It's the least talked about team in the NFL.
04:59As bad as the Jets are, they're in New York.
05:02We're still talking about them, right?
05:03As bad as the Chargers are, they're in Los Angeles.
05:06They got Harbaugh.
05:07They got McDaniel.
05:07They got Herbert.
05:08You know, we're talking about them.
05:09No one talks about the Titans.
05:11They don't make the red zone every week, you know?
05:13So that's a big, that's a big part of this, too.
05:17So I, I like the deal for Tennessee.
05:19I think they hit a big home run.
05:20They'll have two first picks.
05:22One of them may be the 30th pick.
05:24If the Bears win the Super Bowl, I guess that's a problem with that.
05:26But good trade for both sides, but more risk on the Chicago side, Joe, as you alluded to.
05:32Absolutely true.
