00:00Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch made that incredible statement last year.
00:04I was so moved, and I felt for the first time our federal government was acknowledging the humanity and dignity
00:10of trans people,
00:11and it felt like we were turning a corner.
00:13The current administration's revoking these guidelines feels like we're moving backwards,
00:18and I think it sends a message to transgender people all over this country that we are not safe in
00:24this country.
00:25It shames us. It stigmatizes us. It forces us to sort of not be visible and not be who we
00:31are.
00:31It was gut-wrenching. It feels like the president doesn't appreciate any of my personal service or dedication to our
00:38country and in the defense of our people.
00:40The Washington Post came out with a report today that said that the military spends five times the amount of
00:45money than they do on transgender health care on Viagra.
00:48So, obviously, they're caring about the sexual health of many, many of its military members,
00:55unless you're a trans person, and then we don't care about your health or your well-being.
00:59The U.S. military is the largest employer of trans people in the United States, by far.
01:05So, there's a lot of trans people who rely on the military for their livelihood to be able to serve
01:11their country, to do so with honor.
01:14And I think this is really disrespectful of the president to say, without using any data whatsoever,
01:23to just kind of just wipe that out and tell troops that they're not valid or they're not worthy of
01:29service.
01:30I know six other helicopter pilots that are transgender. I know a bunch of airline pilots. I know people in
01:35the NSA, spies, military people. So, we're everywhere.
01:41But this transition has been harder on me than anything I could imagine. And that's the case for so many
01:49others besides me.
01:50For that reason alone, trans people deserve something vital. They deserve your respect.
