00:01Hello.
00:02Hello.
00:03Hi.
00:03Hi.
00:04How are you?
00:05I'm Sandra.
00:05I'm good.
00:05I'm Taylor.
00:06How are you?
00:07Nice to meet you.
00:07Hi.
00:09Nice to meet you, too.
00:11You guys are beautiful.
00:12That's so sweet.
00:13You guys look great.
00:16Well, what's going on?
00:16What are you here for?
00:17I love your eye makeup.
00:18It's gorgeous.
00:20Well, I have two keloids.
00:22One on the top of each of my ears.
00:25I see ears.
00:25One over here as well.
00:30They're kind of cute, actually.
00:32Well, I was just saying, I was like, I really look like an elf.
00:34Are you going to be sad to, like, no, no.
00:37You wouldn't be sad to get rid of them?
00:38Not one bit.
00:39Not one bit.
00:39Okay.
00:39Tell me about how you got these.
00:42Okay, so I got my cartilage pierced in seventh grade.
00:46I see.
00:46And it triggered something?
00:47Yep.
00:48Okay.
00:48But my dad has keloid skin, so if he gets the tiniest of cuts,
00:52he'll get a keloid.
00:52Let me take a look here.
00:54Of course.
00:56Yeah, they are like your little elf ears, sweetie.
00:59Now, I have to admit, keloids are not normally really cute,
01:03but Taylor has the cutest keloids I've ever seen.
01:06This one almost looks like it's wearing a little cap.
01:08Yeah, I know, right?
01:09Over the past year, that little tiny thing, it just grew.
01:12But keloids are uncomfortable, and I think I can remove these for her,
01:16and I know that that's going to make her feel a lot better.
01:18So keloids are an overgrowth of, like, scar tissue.
01:22It's when a scar overgrows, like, the actual area that was traumatized.
01:26Keloids are not directly hereditary.
01:29It's not like your dad has it or your mom has it, and you're destined to have it.
01:33It's more that it happens in certain races, and African Americans have more of a propensity
01:37to develop keloids.
01:39They can be triggered from trauma, and so getting your ears pierced can possibly trigger a keloid.
01:45Any time you cut it off or try to do anything, you're creating more trauma.
01:51So that could potentially create another...
01:53It's a gamble almost.
01:54It is a gamble, exactly.
01:56I know Taylor just wants these keloids off, but she really needs to understand the risk involved here,
02:02because any time you create trauma on the skin, you run the risk of having another keloid,
02:08and it is potentially very likely it will come back bigger.
02:15And let me start the breaking point.
02:16As you can see, I'm...
02:16Mimi, you're going to get a lost loss on the other side.
02:17I want to go to tackle the left.
02:17I'm going to die.
02:17I'm going to get you.
02:17I'm going to die.
