00:11Look, I know that I promised today we'd be doing a lip kit tutorial, but you guys
00:16have been tweeting at me wanting to know my thoughts about this election, like so
00:20many tweets. I started thinking maybe instead of making over our lips we should,
00:25I don't know, make over our government? Also the lip kits haven't come in yet. Look,
00:33you've been asked to vote a million times by people like this, which I agree with,
00:41but let's be honest when it comes to politics most of us just aren't really
00:46that focused. We know the Democrat and the Republican that are fighting to be
00:51president. Because let's face it, none of us live under rocks, I hope. And sure it's
00:57great you know about the candidates running for head honcho at the top of
01:00the ticket, but today I want to talk about down ballot voting. Is he just like a
01:07stubborn clogged poor? You gotta look closely to find out about local elections
01:12because the media doesn't cover the little honchos as much as the head honcho.
01:16But look closely and you'll see people are running for offices that might have a
01:20bigger impact on your life than the president.
01:26The down ballot is where you'll find loads of state and local elections for
01:30judicial, executive, and of course legislative officials who, as we all know, are
01:39fighting for world peace. Now how can local elections impact our lives? I'm glad I
01:45asked. Recently in my town our county council voted for more protected green
01:49spaces and green is very trendy this season. Oh and we got more bike lanes! Just in time.
01:56And more fire hydrants to keep our city safe and our dogs entertained. In some places we lost access to
02:07affordable birth control.
02:08I'm looking at you Florida, Texas, Alabama, and Arkansas.
02:13Because their state legislature voted to defund Planned Parenthood. Can I just...
02:20It is awkward but we gotta talk about it.
02:24I mean of course the president cares about parks and hydrants. It's just not his or her job.
02:29Would you ask your manicurist to do your hair? A lot of life's problems are dealt with only at the
02:36local level. Like this!
02:38There's literally not one thing the United States president can do about all this street noise!
02:44Or are you concerned about crime in your area? Because in most states people vote for their sheriffs.
02:49And how about things as important as custody battles or family court rulings? Because sometimes you can vote for judges.
02:56And of course my personal favorites, city council.
03:03There's also referendums on important things from animal rights to local prisons to lotteries.
03:08I mean you should really look up your ballot on the internet like now.
03:11Or check with your local election board! Get ready! Get informed!
03:15And on election day, get out there and vote! Ha!
03:24I'll clean up.
03:45Again make sure you stay with me!
03:45He wasn't absolutely the closest thing we can get away from plants but the He was real.
03:46And all II В did.
