00:05My sophomore year, I got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which is an incurable illness.
00:12Whenever I looked in the mirror, I didn't know who I was looking at.
00:15What I really thought when I shaved my head was that I was going to look in the mirror
00:19and really see myself for the first time, and that did happen.
00:22But then after a while, just by making art, doing meditation, and doing yoga,
00:27I realized you're never really going to see your true self in the mirror.
00:30It's always going to come out from the inside. It's never going to be from the outside.
00:35I don't feel like I have long hair. I don't feel like I have short hair.
00:39I just feel like it's me and it's right.
00:42It's something that sometimes just can't be described.
00:44It's just a feeling that I do identify as a woman, and so I should feel like a woman no
00:51matter what I look like.
00:53I've grown up in an environment with very strong women who can take care of themselves and are very empowered
01:00in who they are.
01:02That's what defines femininity for me.
01:05It has nothing to do with appearance. It has everything to do with their drive in life,
01:10and just being comfortable and secure with who they are.
