Roughly 100 people die every day of breast cancer in the U.S. — and virtually all of these deaths are from metastatic breast cancer. That's individual people — moms, daughters, sisters, friends — multifaceted women of which cancer is just one thing, not everything. We are telling the stories of these women who have found strength in their sense of self, power in their beauty, and who refuse to let an incurable, deadly disease tell their story for them. Meet Erin.

00:00I think beauty can be found so many places when you are kind of faced with
00:06something not so beautiful. I think beauty is everything I get to see because it
00:12wasn't guaranteed to me. I'm Erin. I was diagnosed with stage 4. In October it'll
00:17be seven years. I had to have a hysterectomy because my cancer was
00:21estrogen receptor positive which meant that estrogen feeds my cancer. I also
00:26lost the ability to have children and to have my own family. I was never really
00:31angry and I always kind of thought why not me and I was happy it was me and not
00:36my mom or my sisters or my best friend because I knew I could do it. That
00:41doesn't mean there were really hard days or really sad days but for the most part
00:45I feel really lucky to be me. Yes it took things that I kind of identified myself
00:50with being feminine or being healthy and it did take those things away from me
00:55but I like the new me. I like the me that is on the other side of this and is
01:00stronger on the other side. I think every day is a great day. I'm so thankful to
01:05have to have the next day. Not everybody has promised that. You know people spend
01:10their entire life trying to learn that lesson to appreciate the present and be
01:13in the present and you know love your friends and be around the people who love
01:17you and I got to learn that lesson in my 30s. I do I feel thankful for that.
