00:00What's ooey, gooey, and goes bump in the night?
00:04It's the Lord of Misrule here for Bubbly Delight.
00:08If you desire a hauntingly luscious bathe, come with us to see how luscious shower cream
00:13is made.
00:14The name Lord of Misrule references a tradition popular in the Middle Ages.
00:18During the Feast of Fools, low and high officials would swap places and elect a Lord of Misrule
00:24to preside over the court.
00:26Usually, a peasant would be appointed and put in charge of all the drunken shenanigans.
00:30Lush's Lord of Misrule originally started as a bath bomb with a wine-colored center to
00:35throw back to these intoxicated parties.
00:37These bath bombs were such a hit that Lush decided to make a product that you could use
00:42in your shower, too.
00:43And that's how the Lord of Misrule shower cream was born.
00:46All of the ingredients used to make this seductive wash are delivered to Lush's facility in
00:50Vancouver, Canada.
00:52Lush is well known for their commitment to create ethical and effective products, and
00:56the Lord of Misrule is no exception.
01:01Dried leaves of patchouli and whole black peppercorn are measured and combined.
01:06They are then wrapped in a large cheesecloth to make a huge tea bag.
01:09Water is then heated in a kettle, and the bundle of patchouli and peppercorn are left to steep
01:14for several minutes.
01:15The infusion that has formed smells heavenly, and it's what gives the body cream its spicy
01:20and grounding aroma.
01:21While the mixture is steeping, deodorized organic cocoa butter is added to a large pot with wheat
01:27germ oil and several safe surfactants that aid in the texture of the cream.
01:31Safe surfactants produce that lovely lather that everyone expects from a great shower cream.
01:35Now it's time to get some bubbles in the mix.
01:39Glycerin and other safe surfactants are added to a large pot.
01:44Finally, Tudor primrose is added which gives the mixture a bright yellow color.
01:49This will be important later.
01:51A large cheesecloth is placed over the surfactants and rolled over to the fully steeped patchouli
01:56extract.
01:57The tea bag is removed from the kettle, and the hot extract is poured over the cheesecloth
02:01to prevent any stray leaves from getting into the pot.
02:04The cheesecloth is removed and ingredients are blended together.
02:09While emulsifying, the melted ingredients are added.
02:12Hmm, that color doesn't look quite right.
02:16Time for a little bit of color theory magic.
02:25That's more like it.
02:27The mixture is then taken to the cooling room where it sits overnight.
02:31The next day, the pot is removed from the refrigerated room.
02:34The consistency of the cream is now thick and luxurious.
02:41Lush's mix of pure essential oils, called essential components, are added for the final
02:46touch.
02:49An industrial sized mixer churns it all together, ensuring the smoothest finish possible.
02:57In the bottling room, the final shower cream is pumped into individual bottles, capped, and
03:03placed on a conveyor belt to be labeled.
03:15The finishing touch is a sticker with the name, and picture, of the compounder who handmade
03:21your bottle of Lord of Misrule.
03:23Thanks, Arnel!
03:29Now these bottles are ready to be shipped to your local Lush store.
03:36There, they are displayed and lie in wait, ready to bring a splash of color and a touch of
03:42mischief to your shower regimen.
