00:00What relationship advice would I give to my younger self? You know, I never really
00:04had, like I didn't really date and stuff when I was young so I think I would just
00:08be like, hang in there girl, it'll come one day. Hey everybody, it's Samira
00:14Wiley and I'm here with Refinery29. Well my first date with my wife was
00:21probably on the set of Orange is the New Black. It was kind of a weird thing
00:25working together. We didn't really have that traditional like going on dates
00:31relationship in the beginning. We just sort of saw each other on set and that's
00:35how our love bloomed, guys.
00:40I think the best part was the first look which is like when, well I mean it's
00:47pretty self-explanatory. When we first saw each other in in our outfits we hadn't
00:51really seen each other and to see, it was just a magical moment.
00:57You know, it's it's amazing being a newlywed. There are so many parts of life
01:02that I'm getting used to. One of them is just like melding our lives together, you
01:06know. It's when we were planning our wedding, one of the things that would
01:10have been really helpful for us and even now when we're making our home and
01:14buying things like our first new couch and things like that. American Express has
01:19this payment feature now called Pay It Plan It and some of the bigger items that
01:25we were paying for during our wedding that would have been really helpful to
01:28be able to plan those things and then just be able to pay for some of the other
01:31things right off the bat so we weren't too surprised by our statement. Being a
01:36married couple is is like no joke. Really your lives come together. Half of
01:43everything is hers and is mine. See you don't even know I remember growing up and
01:52not having too many women I could look up to that that I felt a connection with on
01:57that level. To be able to embody some of these characters hopefully for some girl
02:00to look up and see them one day is one of the reasons why I do this.
02:07I think I'm most excited this upcoming season for Moira to just explore life in
02:13Canada and not be in Gilead. I know that's not that specific but like she has so
02:18many choices now.
02:22I think a story like The Handmaid's Tale is so important right now because of its
02:27relevance and its timeliness to the political climate that we're living in
02:30right now. It is a show that people I think really need. I think it's a warning
02:35but I pray that it's not pathetic.
