00:10Today I have a somewhat crazy product to test out.
00:14I know that I say that pretty much every single time I do a video, but this one is truly
00:19weird.
00:19It is called the Farmer Maker Duracell Face Shield Patch.
00:24It is a K-Beauty product. I bought it on Amazon.
00:27It costs around 25 bucks, but there are different sellers of this, so you can get it for different prices.
00:32It's basically supposed to create a protective layer on your skin,
00:36sort of like a primer that acts as a protective layer between your skin and your makeup.
00:41I'm gonna be honest, I don't have very high hopes. I've seen this online.
00:45It kind of looks like, you know when you're a kid and you used to put Elmer's glue on the
00:48palm of your hand
00:49and then like peel it off?
00:52That's what I feel like this product is gonna look like.
00:54Let's see. Directions. Face shield patch that protects the face from direct contact with makeup and pollutants
00:59by covering the skin with a transparent protective film.

01:05Squeezing it out.
01:09It's like rolling down my skin.
01:12Alright, so I'm gonna touch it. It feels really sticky.
01:16Smoothing it on. It actually smooths on and just feels kind of like a gel moisturizer.
01:22So I am smoothing this on and not rubbing because I have a feeling with primers and products like this,
01:29if you rub, they'll start to pill. It like already is.
01:37Oh my god, it's peeling so much.
01:40I'm just gonna go with the swipe on and don't touch it approach.

01:52Alright, so I think I'm gonna stop there because I put the shield over my entire face at this point.
01:58My hands feel really sticky.
02:00So prior to doing this experiment, I actually chatted with Dr. Joshua Zeichner.
02:06He's a dermatologist here in New York and he works at Mount Sinai.
02:10So I wanted to get his two cents on this product.
02:14He was like, makeup is not great for your skin.
02:16You have to remove it at the end of the day.
02:18And something like this could help keep it out of your pores,
02:21but it could end up irritating your skin even further.
02:23I kind of anticipated that it would feel very tight and dry,
02:26but it just kind of feels like I have, there's like stuff on my face.
02:29I am going to put my makeup on over it and we'll see if it works.
02:33I actually have this NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation,
02:37which is one that I've reviewed in a video on this channel before.
02:40It's starting to peel a little bit around my mouth.
02:43When I scrunch my face, you can see it like, like ugh.
02:47I'm curious to see if any of you guys have tried this and really like it.
02:51I see it peeling already around my mouth.
02:58Ugh, it's so ugly.
03:01So it's not applying smoothly like at all.
03:04I'm peeling a lot around my mouth where I'm talking.
03:07And the foundation applied over the shield.
03:10It looks really bad.
03:14I'm going to do the rest of my makeup.
03:17So I'm going to use this bronzer from Glamour Dolls
03:20that I've actually unboxed on this channel before.

03:25Oh, oh my gosh.
03:26Like I brought my Glossier Cloud Paint in dusk.
03:31So I'm just going to finish off the face with some highlighter.
03:34This is a really gorgeous one.
03:35This is the Marc Jacobs Coconut Gel Highlighter.
03:37It's so pretty, but I don't think it's pretty enough to distract from my flaky face.
03:46It's like an accordion.
03:49I'm going to put my eyes and my lips on and then we'll chat about this.
03:54Not looking good guys.
03:56I think this is the worst my makeup has ever looked.
04:00I mean, I've only been wearing this face patch for like 20 or 30 minutes.
04:04And as soon as I even started to apply it, it started peeling.
04:07I feel like instead of marketing it as a makeup protection product,
04:13I think that I could actually see it working as almost like a liquid version of those pimple patches.
04:19So maybe I'll try that and see how that works.
04:21But as a face shield for makeup, no.
04:27So I'm going to wear this for a couple of hours to see how it wears.

04:58And with every bite, it peeled more and more and more.
05:02So I'm going to start taking this off now because it's very uncomfortable.
05:05I'm just going to go for the obvious piece.
05:08It's kind of satisfying like vodka.
05:11I have a feeling this is going to be hard to take off.
05:13It's like not going to come off evenly at all.

05:26This is just a lot more work than just wearing normal makeup and taking it off with a cleansing oil
05:32or something.

05:43Going in with a wipe because I don't think there's really much else that can be done peeling wise.
05:48So this stuff is supposed to keep your pores from getting clogged.
05:54But I actually almost feel more worried that my skin is getting irritated and clogged just because it's so difficult
06:02to remove.
06:03So makeup is off.
06:05Here's everything that I was able to peel off my face.
06:10We will see tomorrow how this product works as just a spot treatment on its own on blemishes.

06:19It is the morning after my Drexel face patch mishap.
06:23I feel like small layers of this will actually be all right.
06:26I'm a little worried about how makeup will layer over it.
06:30I'm going to avoid putting it around my mouth where my face moves a lot and just focus on the
06:35pimples on my cheeks, my chin, and forehead.
06:42So in the areas where I didn't put the Drexel face patch, I can still buff.
06:50But in the areas that I did put it on, I am stippling.
06:53I think that worked all right.
06:55It didn't seem to come off in any areas while I was putting it on.
07:00So that's promising.
07:01I'm just going to take a little closer look.

07:05But over here where I put it on, it actually looks really smooth.

07:16So I am at work and as you can see, the makeup is already starting to peel.
07:22This face patch right here, down here, everything like below the mouth.
07:25But everything from the mouth up on my cheeks is looking good and smooth.
07:31I think I'm probably going to peel these off just because I feel like everyone's looking at me.

07:42I've been wearing the Drexel face patch for the entire workday on various spots.
07:47And I also walked through a storm to get home through wind and sleet and rain.
07:53Right here you can sort of see it lifting a little bit here.
07:56On my nose it looks alright.
07:59On my chin and jawline is where things got a little hairy.
08:04I had to straight up peel an entire section off because it was flaking off and it was hideous.
08:09So on my chin and on my jawline I did that.
08:11And you can sort of see there, here, you can see some of the peeling.
08:15It just kind of looks like skin to be honest.
08:17If you put this on and you have blemishes along your jawline or your smile lines or anywhere where your
08:23face moves a lot.
08:24It's going to peel off.
08:25It's going to look really bad.
08:28But from the chin up I think my skin looks great.
08:32A peel that's supposed to keep, you know, makeup out of your pores and off of your blemishes in theory
08:37could be helpful.
08:38But I would say it's no go.
