One side of Mi-Anne's face is high end makeup and one side is from the drug store. Can you tell the difference?
Transcript
00:00Hey guys, it's MeeAnne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:02Guys, I'm wearing high-end makeup on one side of my face and drugstore makeup on the other.
00:08Pause right now and tell me if you can tell which side is which.
00:13As you can probably tell, I am doing a tutorial today and it's high-end makeup versus drugstore makeup,
00:18but with the added bonus of every single thing being cruelty-free.
00:23So, without further ado, we're just going to get into this makeup look.
00:27All right, let's go. Did you get it right?
00:30I'm going to put high-end makeup on the right side of my face and drugstore makeup on the left
00:36side of my face,
00:37starting with foundation.
00:39Now, I have this fella. This is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation.
00:42It feels like moisturizer going on. It has a lovely natural finish, but it has also an SPF of 15.
00:49I'm going to be applying it with this little Beauty Blender Bubble, the light pink one.
00:54Also a cruelty-free product.
01:03So, this foundation is definitely not inexpensive.
01:06It's $44, which is pretty typical in terms of foundation price points for kind of higher-end makeup,
01:12but if you're looking for something that has really natural-looking coverage
01:16and kind of feels like a hybrid between a foundation and a tinted moisturizer,
01:20I definitely would recommend this.
01:22So, now that the right side of my face is perfected, I'm going to move on to the left side,
01:26which is the drugstore side.
01:28I'm going to be using this foundation.
01:30It is the Wet n' Wild Photo Focus Foundation.
01:33It has an interesting applicator.
01:36Look at this fella.
01:37I'm going to put it on my face directly from the spatula,
01:39and I'm going to blend it in with this Real Techniques Complexion Sponge.
01:52This fella is $5.99, ridiculously affordable for a foundation like this.
01:57It applies so beautifully.
02:00Like, I'm looking at my skin right now, and I'm like,
02:02it looks like I'm not even wearing makeup on either side, honestly.
02:05Moving right along to concealer.
02:06Now, this is the Wander Beauty Concealer.
02:09There is an illuminating side, which is a liquid,
02:12and then there's a matte side that's a stick.
02:15I'm going to dot this illuminating side under my eyes.
02:23This has more coverage than I thought it was going to have.
02:25I'm going to use the matte side to conceal some of my blemishes.
02:34I really like this concealer.
02:35I like that it has two sides.
02:36It's 29 bucks, but for two pretty sizable products,
02:41I think it's a good deal.
02:42Like, look at this one.
02:44Pretty good.
02:44Next up, I've got another Wet n' Wild product.
02:47This is the Wet n' Wild Concealer Corrector.
02:50So I am mixing the shades Light Ivory and Light Medium Beige.
02:55One of these fellas will run you $3.99, which is very affordable.
02:59I'm going to use this all over my face, under my eyes,
03:03around my nose where I get the redness,
03:05and onto the scarring situation that I have on my cheek.
03:14I'm going to stop there because I think that my base is pretty much set.
03:18Overall, I think my skin looks really good.
03:20The next step is powder.
03:21I'm using this one from Cover FX.
03:23It's called the Perfect Setting Powder.
03:25This one has a little sister thing that keeps the product from getting all over the place,
03:31which is genius.
03:32So this one is $35.
03:35When it comes to powder, I'm not very picky, I'll be honest.
03:39So I'll kind of use anything.
03:41Looks nice.
03:42Moving right along to Drugstore Powder.
03:44I have this one from Flower, and it's so pretty.
03:47It's huge.
03:48It's definitely not travel friendly.
03:50It comes with this really cute little flower puff.
03:53Should I use the puff?
03:54I'll use the puff a little bit.
03:55And then I'm going to use this Real Techniques Contour Brush as well.
04:03This fella retails for $13, which is on the pricier end for Drugstore,
04:10but I think that because this is the only Drugstore brand that I think has a powder like this,
04:16it's nice to know that you can get a very luxurious, like, you know, true,
04:21kind of like a vintage-inspired powder tin.
04:24So that is powder done.
04:26Onto bronzer.
04:27Now, I love putting on bronzer, and this bronzer from Marc Jacobs,
04:31it's called the O! Mega Bronze, is so beautiful.
04:37The packaging is stupidly big.
04:40I mean, it's like ridiculously big.
04:41Look at this.
04:42It's like as big as my face.
04:44I'm going to use this Sigma Large Angle Contour Brush.
04:48Now, this is an expensive bronzer.
04:51It's $49, but I will say it is really lovely.
04:54It blends beautifully.
04:55The color is kind of the perfect matte bronzer color.
04:59It's a little bit chocolatey, not too warm, not too cool.
05:03You can kind of use it for both functions.
05:05You can use it to contour if you want.
05:06You can use it to slightly warm up your complexion.
05:10So I'm going to stop there because I can very easily go overboard with the bronzer.
05:14I'm going to move on to the drugstore side, which is the Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer
05:19in Deep Bronze.
05:21I love the texture of this stuff.
05:24So I'm going to dip my contour brush into this product.
05:30So I'm going in with even more product because it is a lot lighter and sheerer than the Marc Jacobs
05:37side,
05:37so I want it to match.
05:38But I will say that it blends so nicely.
05:44$15 for a drugstore bronzer, though.
05:46That's kind of a lot.
05:47Assessment!
05:50I'm a fan.
05:51They're very different, so it really depends on what you want.
05:52If you want, like, bronze in one stroke, quick, fast, opaque, Marc Jacobs.
05:57If you want to be able to build your color, Physician's Formula.
05:59Moving right along to blush.
06:01My high-end blush is this fella from Hourglass.
06:04It's the Ambient Lighting Blush in the shade Dim and Fusion.
06:07I've used these blushes before, but I've never used this shade.
06:10It's a beautiful, marbled, baked, peachy, coral color.
06:15So I don't like to go too ham with blush.
06:19So I just usually will take my brush, I'm using the same, the Sigma Large Angle Contour,
06:24dabbing it in here, tapping off the excess.
06:28And then I like to sweep it just above where I put my bronzer and then onto the apple of
06:33my cheek.
06:34Looks good.
06:35Me likey.
06:36So drugstore side, I have this baked blush from Milani.
06:41It is the classic Luminoso.
06:43It also has a nice kind of radiant finish, but look at the pigment in this.
06:47Right off the bat, the Milani one is VVV Pigmented.
06:52This blush retails for seven bucks.
06:54I think it's definitely worth the money.
06:56It's a lovely color.
06:57It goes onto the skin beautifully.
06:59It's not catching on dry skin.
07:02It's not looking patchy.
07:03I'm going to go in a little bit more.
07:06It looks the same.
07:07I like it.
07:08Highlighter time!
07:10And on the high-end side, I have RMS Beauty.
07:13It's called the Champagne Rosé Luminizer.
07:15It launched this year and it is so pretty.
07:19And it has the prettiest, like, pink micro shimmer running through it that when you turn
07:25your head, it hits the light in a really beautiful and flattering way.
07:29So I'm going to use my ring finger.
07:32So I powdered my face already, as you saw.
07:35When I wear cream highlighter, I'll layer it on top of powder.
07:38And this one is layering on top of powder really well.
07:41This fella is 38 bucks, which is pricey for something so small.
07:46But because it's for highlighter and you're not going to use it all over your face,
07:50I do think, I will say that this pot will last you so long.
07:53Alright!
07:55So the drugstore side is this fella from e.l.f.
07:58It's called the Highlighting Pearl Paint.
08:00It sheers out really nicely.
08:02It's definitely more on the frosty side than the RMS is.
08:06But like the RMS one, it has a little bit of warm shimmer going through it.
08:11So same deal on my ring finger.
08:14This one costs 4 bucks.
08:17Very affordable.
08:18Look at this.
08:18Already, like I'm telling you right now, one layer of this is definitely more on the strobe-y side.
08:25But I don't dislike it.
08:27I actually really like it.
08:28It's layering on top of powder also really, really well.
08:32Honestly, both of them are really pretty.
08:33It's just your personal preference.
08:35Next up is the most expensive item on this side of my face.
08:39It's going to be the Natasha Denona Sunset Palette.
08:42And it has all of these gorgeous yellows, golds, reds.
08:47So I'm going to go with a very fall color palette with some yellow on the lid
08:52and a little bit of these rust shades in the crease.
08:55I think it's going to look like a leaf.
08:57So this is the Sigma E25.
08:59I'm going to use it to pick up this matte pigment.
09:02Whoa, whoa, whoa.
09:04That's a lot.
09:08And then I'm going to go in with Horizon, this warm, rusty terracotta shade in my crease.
09:16Then I'm going to take my fluffy blending brush.
09:20This is the Sigma tapered blending brush.
09:22It is the E40.
09:24Windshield wiper motions.
09:26Blending the horizon of my sunset.
09:28And then I'm going to use my shader brush to take some of the darker pigments a little bit under
09:34my eye.
09:34It looks weird without eyeliner and mascara, but it's going to come together, guys.
09:40So now I have the next palette and it is from ColourPop.
09:44I think it's actually called the Yes Please palette, but it is cute AF.
09:47This palette has a very similar color tone to the Natasha.
09:51Let's do a little side by side.
09:52The ColourPop is lacking the very, very opaque stark white shade and doesn't have some, it's not as glittery.
10:00The ColourPop one is $16 and this one's $129.
10:03So I'm going to go in same shades.
10:05I'm going to use this Wet n Wild brush.
10:08It is the P15.
10:14I'm going to go in with the Real Technique shading brush and use some of the deeper matte shades to
10:19define my crease.
10:21Placing this in my outer corner, this shade is a little bit more red than the shade that I used
10:26on the Natasha.
10:28But I think once it's all blended out, it won't look very different.
10:31So I'm going to use this fluffy blending brush from Wet n Wild.
10:33It's the P20.
10:35And blend those colors.
10:39So I'm looking at both sides now.
10:42Pigment, totally there on the ColourPop side.
10:44Blending was a little bit more difficult.
10:46Natasha's side, pigment also was great.
10:49Blending was easy.
10:50I think that the ColourPop palette being $16 is such a good price for shadows of this quality.
10:57So I'm going to move right along and do eyeliner.
11:00I've got one of my favorites, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner.
11:02It's a great liner, cruelty free.
11:04So I'm going to use that to create a little cat eye on the high end side.
11:18That's the eyeliner done.
11:20I just really like this brush tip.
11:22It's just so good.
11:24So drugstore side, I'm using this eyeliner from Jordana.
11:27It's called the Fabu Liner Liquid Eyeliner in Black.
11:29It has more of a traditional felt tip and definitely is thicker than the Kat Von D.
11:35But it looks like it's still going to give me a nice fine line.
11:44Despite the fact that it has a thicker tip, it's actually really...
11:47That...
11:48Drawing that thin line was really easy.
11:50And this thing is $3.
11:54That was really easy.
11:56I don't love felt tip liners, but that one, it applied really, really nicely.
12:01Impressed with both of them, honestly.
12:03Alright, last piece of the eye makeup puzzle is mascara.
12:08And the high end side, I have this Ico Sport Waterproof Mascara.
12:13It has a really nice curved brush and it retails for $26.
12:27Alright, so that is mascara on the high end side done.
12:30On the drugstore side on the left, I'm going to use this one from Pacifica.
12:34It's called Aquarian Gaze.
12:36It's a water resistant mascara.
12:37It's not waterproof, which I'm a little bit nervous about.
12:40Opening it up right away, I like the brush.
12:42This is a plastic brush, really dense bristles.
12:46So hopefully that hugs my lashes really well.
12:48So this mascara retails for $14, which is pretty pricey.
12:58So far, I like it.
13:00I'd be interested to see if these smudge and whether or not they will hold a curl.
13:03Because there are even some mascaras that are waterproof that I've tried that don't hold a curl.
13:07So, we will check in there.
13:09Last but not least, I have lips.
13:11And on the high end side, I'm going to be using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Dusty Rose.
13:16It retails for $20.
13:24Alright, half the lip's done.
13:26That was really easy to apply.
13:27The color was very opaque.
13:29It feels comfortable so far, though.
13:30We'll see.
13:30And on the drugstore side, I'm going to be using this Milani Amore Matte Lip Cream in the shade Precious.
13:36This one retails for $9.
13:44Okay, so I think it's dried down now.
13:46I don't think that you can really tell the difference.
13:48They're both lovely.
13:50They feel good so far, but these are really matte.
13:54So I'm wondering how they're going to wear throughout the day.
13:58But that's the look done.
14:00I don't know.
14:01Does this lipstick look a little too much for the eye look?
14:03I don't know.
14:04We're going to roll with it.
14:05It's time for Can You Tell?
14:08I'm with Julia.
14:10Hello.
14:11Hey.
14:12Alright, I'm wearing high-end makeup on one side of my face and drugstore makeup on the other side.
14:16Oh.
14:17This challenge.
14:18What do you think?
14:19Which one?
14:19Which is which?
14:20I think this side.
14:22Why?
14:24Well, maybe it's because you did a better job blending the eye.
14:28I'm not sure.
14:29The truth comes out.
14:30I just think that it's really nicely blended.
14:33Errr.
14:34You're wrong.
14:35This is the high-end side.
14:36This is the drugstore side.
14:38This eyeshadow palette is like $130.
14:39Clearly, I know of nothing.
14:41Hi, Lewis.
14:42How you doing?
14:42I have a question for you.
14:43Yeah.
14:44I'm wearing high-end makeup on half my face and drugstore makeup on the other half.
14:48Which one do you think is which?
14:51I think the high-end makeup's on your left and my right.
14:56You're wrong.
14:57Oh.
14:58Why did you say that?
14:59I don't know.
15:00I think it looks better.
15:01Okay.
15:02Yeah.
15:02Wise words from Lewis over here.
15:05Hi, guys.
15:06I'm back.
15:07It is 6 PM, so I've been wearing this makeup for seven hours.
15:10And I've got to say, it's looking pretty good, but I am looking oily.
15:16The foundation looks good on both sides.
15:20Honestly, I can't really tell the difference.
15:22Powder-wise, cover FX side might have made my skin just a hair.
15:28A hair matter.
15:30Concealer looks good.
15:32No complaints.
15:33On the highlighter front, you can still see this.
15:36Here, I can still see it.
15:38The dewiness is still there, but it's dried out a bit as I've worn it.
15:42You can still see the nice pinkish tinge, but it's definitely not as strong as the elf side.
15:50Eye-wise, I'm getting a little bit more smudging on the left side of my face, so the drugstore side.
15:56I'm surprised that this Pacifica mascara did hold a curl.
16:01Eyeshadow-wise, I think they both look really good.
16:05Creasing just a little on the Colourpop side.
16:11Eyeliner, I mean Kat Von D Slade, she always does.
16:15This liner isn't smudging, it's staying really crisp.
16:20The Jordana side also looks really crisp, but it is starting to smudge a little bit on the inner corner
16:26of my eye.
16:27Lipstick-wise, I can tell that there's two different lipsticks on my lips.
16:32I think it's the one thing that I didn't color match, but they actually both feel really good.
16:38Alright, that's it guys.
16:40I just talked through a whole lot of product, but I hope that it showed you guys how to wear
16:45some new, different makeup techniques,
16:47what products are good.
16:48It also hopefully showed you that you can get a luxury look without having to pay high-end prices.
16:54Until then, I will see you guys next Monday.
16:57Bye!
