00:00Shouldn't we tell women to eat pears and not be pears?
00:04My body's not a fruit, but I'm sure shit luscious.
00:07I'm Jamie Gonzalez, and I have a pear-shaped body.
00:11A pear shape is someone who is bigger through the belly,
00:15bigger through the hips, and through the butt.
00:17The fashion industry tells you make your belly look smaller,
00:20make your hips look thinner.
00:21It's kind of like, oh, just hide it.
00:23We just don't want to see it.
00:24It's very problematic.
00:25Pretty much the things that they tell me to cover
00:27is what I like to show off.
00:28Body positivity is something that's really important
00:31because it's the biggest part of you
00:33that is out there for the world to see.
00:35And so why be at war with yourself?
00:36Wouldn't it just, it's just easier to love yourself.
00:39The parts that I love to show off is definitely my waist.
00:43I love to show off my legs in the summertime.
00:45My ass.
00:46I love that it's just like big and luscious.
00:49And you know, it just makes me feel like a little more feminine,
00:52a little more sassy to just kind of like,
00:54ooh, hey, there she is.
00:56I would say for my body type,
00:58the fashion industry would tell me to stay
01:00as far away from this dress as possible
01:03because it shows off my arms.
01:05It shows off my boobs.
01:07It shows off my belly and my hips and my thighs and my ass.
01:12This outfit makes me feel so good about myself.
01:15It's so frustrating that, you know,
01:17plus size women are made to feel like,
01:19oh, I can't wear horizontal stripes.
01:20You absolutely can.
01:22If you want to, put it on your body
01:24and rock the fuck out of it.
