00:00Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet joining me now. You guys work together in Lady Bird.
00:05That was perfectly pronounced. I'm pretty excited.
00:07Saoirse, people don't always get the name right, do they?
00:10They never get the name right, no. But I feel like the word has been spread enough this season.
00:16There we go.
00:17And Timmy knows how to pronounce it, so he's got to teach them.
00:20But I get it. I hear it butchered a lot, too. Mine, not Saoirse's.
00:24What do you get?
00:25I get Chermont, weirdly.
00:27You know what? I got that once, in fairness.
00:29But I always thought that was the funniest one, because it's like, it was once, I swear to God.
00:33What do you get? What's the weirdest one you've ever heard?
00:35I got Shelly once, which I was like, that's a different name.
00:40That's actually some other woman's name.
00:42They thought you were the famous actress, Shelly.
00:44They thought it was the famous actress, Shelly Ronan.
00:46Shelly Ronan?
00:47Yeah, she's an icon.
00:48From Lady Bird.
00:49No, I've had Cherche, Soirche, the whole thing.
00:52And you're also nominated, male actor in a leading role, for Call Me By Your Name.
00:57Yes.
00:57At 22 years old, you were a phenomenal actor.
01:01Who has inspired you? What other actors have inspired you?
01:05Well, I can tell you, you beat me to it, Serche.
01:07Why?
01:07You're clearing your throat before I can say your name.
01:09But I'm not even joking about that.
01:10When I saw Brooklyn, I worked with an actor that had worked with Serche from Brooklyn.
01:14He came to our set they were working on after that, saying, I just worked with the most incredible actress.
01:18And that was one of the big reasons I wanted to jump into labor.
01:20But besides that, the heroes are like Joaquin Phoenix and Heath Ledger and Serche and I don't know,
01:27a lot of people that are here tonight.
01:28So I'm going to try not to geek out too much.
01:30You kind of look like you could be like a young Daniel Day-Lewis.
01:34What am I saying?
01:35I have nothing to say to that.
01:36Just saying, Hollywood.
01:37I don't know how to say that.
01:38Hollywood.
01:39Take note.
01:40So, you know, new fans watching are probably very surprised to hear your accent because
01:45your American accent is so amazing.
01:48What were some of the words that you fought with, though?
01:52Like, were there a couple of words, anything that you found hard to pronounce?
01:55I did, yeah.
01:56One of the words that I just, I couldn't get on the day was perfect.
02:02I say perfect, but in Sacramento, I don't know if it's the same in the rest of California,
02:07they say, like, perfect or perfect, yeah, like with an I.
02:11Uh-huh, perfect.
02:12And I found that really, really difficult.
02:14You are an incredible actress because I heard this, I heard that the same way both times.
02:18No, no, no, Greta was, like, the only one who could hear it.
02:20She was like, it's less perfect and it's more perfect, and I was like, they sound the same
02:25to me.
02:25But that was the one that I found most difficult, yeah.
02:28Now, Timothy, I want to ask you because the Time's Up movement is obviously bringing much-needed
02:33dialogue to the surface.
02:36As a young man, as a 22-year-old young man, do you feel it's resonating with young men
02:41in your generation?
02:43Absolutely, and thank God it is.
02:44And I think at the level of campus sexual assault for people my age, this is a dialogue
02:48that was somewhat already happening, but with the centralization of the Time's Up movement
02:52and now that it's hopefully happening at award shows like this, the conversation's getting
02:55out there, thank God, equality in the workplace, 50-50 by 2020, these are messages that are
02:59getting out there now.
03:00All right, all right.
03:01Well, thank you guys so much.
03:02I think, actually, wait, my producer's telling me something.
03:05Nina?
03:06Yes.
03:06I think Nina is with-
03:08Oh, look who I'm with!
03:09Bring her, Nina.
03:10Lori Metcalf.
03:11Hi, Timothy.
03:12Lori Metcalf.
03:13How are you?
03:14What's up, Lori?
03:14I'm down the way.
03:15I know, we can see them.
03:17Do you have any advice to your movie daughter?
03:19Oh, no, my movie daughter has so much more film experience than I do.
03:23I'm looking to my movie daughter.
03:25You guys have to come down here and say hello.
03:29I'll see them.
03:31You'll see you soon, Lori.
03:32Okay, see you at the table.
