00:00Hey guys, I'm Jamie.
00:01I am gender non-conforming, so I use they, them, their pronouns, and I have a boy body.
00:12As we know, the world is very binary gendered.
00:14We walk into any clothing store.
00:16There's the men's section, the women's section, the boys' section, the girls' section.
00:20So growing up in hyper-gendered spaces, I was restricted to the boys' and men's section.
00:25But since coming into my own, I dabble into both, I dabble into neither.
00:29There are more non-gendered fashion lines coming out that I love to wear as well.
00:33Pronouns tell you how to refer to people, but also it enables you to see people in their
00:39full capacity.
00:40So they, them for me is a rejection of male-female, so when people talk to me and refer to
00:46me,
00:46they have to break down the entire gender binary in order to see and respect me.
00:50According to the fashion industry, I'm also a banana shape, which means I should wear curvy
00:55clothes and not accentuate my length or lankiness.
00:58But I don't conform to those rules.
01:00I think I'm more of a banana split.
01:13I love it!
01:14I go to thrift shops, I just find the brightest piece of clothing possible, and I purchase
01:18it.
01:18Changing up the colors, adding color to all parts of the outfit.
01:21Dabbling into the world of skirts and dresses, I'm really able to explore and be frilly and
01:28wear polka dots in different colors.
01:30Fashion industry would tell me to wear none of this, from the shoes, to this top layer,
01:37to the skirt especially, the earring, the lip color, everything the fashion industry would
01:42advise me not to do.
01:43Fuck the fashion industry.
01:45I do what I want.
