00:00Hi, I'm Chelsea. Welcome to my Tiny Sweet Digs. Come on in, check it out.
00:07I live in the capital region of New York with my boyfriend David, and the house is between 150 to
00:12300 square feet, depending on the loft size as well.
00:15I paid $26,000 for my tiny home, and it's the best price that I could find in the country.
00:27This is the dinette here. It was intimidating just designing the house. I started out looking at other people's designs
00:33online and, like, YouTube videos that described how to, like, draw a layout.
00:38Pretty much every corner of the house has some kind of storage in it. You kind of have to utilize
00:42every nook and cranny to get stuff where you need it.
00:45We have storage seats, we have storage under the stairs, we have storage in the toe kicks, just everywhere.
00:51My storage seat is basically my stash of yarn and crochet projects, all my work in progress.
00:57Before we had anything in the house, it felt smaller. Like, it was just, like, this big box. So we
01:01were like, oh god, we would never fit in here.
01:03But then as you put stuff in, it grew for some reason.
01:08It seemed way bigger. And this is our kitchen.
01:10We had, like, a really weird incident with a glass crystal ball that we have. It basically made, like, a
01:15laser through the glass ball and burned, like, an indentation in the wood.
01:20And we realized, like, okay, that's kind of scary.
01:22And we kept waking up, like, oh, what's that pleasant smell? And it's like, oh, my house is burning. Okay,
01:27that's it.
01:27The other thing would be the electricity situation. Because we have the house plugged in in kind of a janky
01:32way, it's just, like, we can have the kettle on, but then we can't have the TV on, and we
01:35can have the air conditioning on, but don't turn on the water.
01:38It was just an error that we made, like, figuring out how long of wires we needed to the electrical.
01:43We weren't able to, like, cook a lot, so we had ramen and, like, couscous and sardines for a couple
01:49of months, and that got boring really quick.
01:50But now that we have a mini fridge, we're able to make, like, really easy meals with, like, sandwiches and,
01:54like, bagels and cream cheese.
01:56But we're really looking forward to cooking in the future, so we've already bought something, like, instant pot and induction
02:01cooktop.
02:02And down here is our bathroom. Here, I'll show you the sliding door.
02:11Slides open and close.
02:12Our water system is a really special water system.
02:15The concept is originally from the ISS, Up and Outer Space.
02:19They're still working out different kind of kinks with the system.
02:22Winter was just super brutal this year.
02:24We had to figure out all different ways to keep the water system, like, unfrozen.
02:29We had to, like, learn about how to insulate different pipes and stuff.
02:32It was really tricky.
02:33When we were designing the house, we were able to make the ceiling heights tall enough for David.
02:37He's, like, 6'5", so that was really important.
02:40However, going in the shower, if he lets his hair grow out too tall, his hair will, like, rub on
02:45the beam on the ceiling.
02:47So it's kind of a tight fit for him.
02:50So this is the loft up here.
02:53Before we got into tiny homes, we were looking up, like, RVs.
02:57Just looking through, like, Google Images, I found pictures of tiny houses, and I was just, like, super intrigued.
03:02I worked retail for five years.
03:04Having the tiny house has allowed me to try to figure out what I want to do next in life.
03:09I'm really interested in doing things with my voice, like voice acting.
03:13I love music and singing and stuff like that.
03:16I really want to be able to pursue my passion for art and crafts.
03:19Right now, it's more of a hobby, but I really want to turn it into more of a career.
03:23Having a tiny house kind of feels like a sanctuary to allow us to concentrate on those kinds of things
03:28that we really want to pursue.
03:29Being in this house will help us save money, and if we have jobs, we'll do, like, part-time jobs,
03:34and we'll be able to really, like, get into the things that we love.
03:38I'm not sure where to begin with my stuffed animal collection.
03:40I have so many.
03:42As an artist, I definitely appreciate, like, some of the craftsmanship that goes into stuffed animals.
03:50A lot of stuffed animals that I've kept as a kid were kind of like my friends growing up,
03:55especially since I didn't have a lot of, like, actual friends growing up, and they were always there for me.
04:01When we wake up in the morning, it's usually, like, I roll out of bed, go down the stairs, we'll
04:06make some tea, you know, we'll take our showers.
04:08Tea is the important thing.
04:09Tea, yeah.
04:11Tea happens in the morning.
04:12One of my favorite parts of the home is definitely all the different windows we have in the house.
04:16It really, like, makes the whole house open and airy and brings a lot of natural sunlight in.
04:21My favorite part of the house is Chelsea.
04:23She's so sweet.
04:24We met in seventh grade, and I just had a lot of fun just, like, nagging him, so...
04:29Yeah, the harassment was very endearing, so I guess it all just worked out.
04:33Yeah.
04:34Best part about living on our own is the freedom that it gives us.
04:37We want to avoid winter, if possible.
04:39This year kicked our butts real hard.
04:41We plan to move down south, hopefully closer to the beach on the coast somewhere.
04:45We can stay here.
04:47We can bring the house with us.
04:49I guess the sky's the limit with where we want to bring it.
