00:00So when it comes to family traditions and foods that are like must-haves,
00:04a big staple food, as long as I can remember, has been macaroni pie.
00:08The trick. Lots of cheese.
00:10Of course.
00:11Like pounds of cheese.
00:12Right.
00:13And slowly mixing it in.
00:14I'm going to try that when I start cooking.
00:16Oh my goodness. You have no idea.
00:29Do you want me sitting straight on?
00:32I'm going out tonight, people.
00:34Hi, my name is Alicia.
00:36My name is Stephanie.
00:37I am an entrepreneur and a stay-at-home mom.
00:39I am a dance studio owner and dance competition judge.
00:42And I have twin girls that are nine years old named Sophie and Isabella.
00:46I have a nine-year-old little girl whose name is Amaya.
00:49I have a five-year-old little girl whose name is Eden.
00:52And we have a 15-month-old little boy and his name is Coulson.
00:58So when it comes to cooking dinner, we do that almost every single night.
01:02My kids love to cook.
01:03I think you're like my husband's dream wife.
01:05Because with us, I own a business and my husband works.
01:09So we do do a lot of healthy takeout.
01:12I like to make sure the kids have an equal balance.
01:14So I always tell them they can have a box food.
01:16So something out of our pantry as like a treat.
01:19And then they have to have something out of the fridge.
01:20I was one of those kids who wasn't allowed to eat those things.
01:23So I went to school and like my friends were having all these cool snacks.
01:26And I was just eating my carrots and dip.
01:29And like, hey, can I have one of those, please?
01:32Just to experience it, right?
01:33And like, I don't want to be that mom.
01:35So you can have one of those snacks and then make sure you get a healthy snack.
01:38And they understand the importance of healthy eating.
01:41Yes.
01:42And that's the point.
01:43Well, and it's good for them to know too, right?
01:44Like I've been to theme parks with my kids and they've had a day where they've eaten a lot of
01:49junk food.
01:50And they don't feel good.
01:51Yeah.
01:51Right?
01:52So I make a point to kind of, if that situation happens, because it happens.
01:56Hey, you know why you're not feeling good?
01:57Right.
01:58Because you didn't eat good food.
01:59The only thing that like my kids are like, eh, about is Brussels sprouts.
02:03And oh my Lord.
02:05Put some cheese on them.
02:05That's it.
02:06Bacon and cheese.
02:07And they're like, oh, mommy, this is nice.
02:09Get the cheese to crisp, put it in the oven.
02:11And they're like, mommy, this is, I like this.
02:14This is cool.
02:15That's right.
02:15And I'm like, there you go.
02:16That's the secret.
02:16Didn't you know?
02:17Yeah.
02:17Put cheese on every vegetable.
02:18That's it.
02:19That's a child's secret.
02:19I've nailed dinner.
02:21But breakfast, I'm just like, listen, I'm already exhausted.
02:24That's right.
02:25Mommy needs her coffee.
02:26So go pick a cereal.
02:27Right.
02:27It's just super convenient and easy for me.
02:29It allows me to get other things done.
02:31So hey, go pick out some cereal.
02:33I'll grab the milk.
02:34Grab a bowl.
02:35And we're goods to go.
02:36One of the really important things for me with the kids when it comes to nutrition and making
02:41sure that you're eating the right things is that they're comfortable within their own
02:44bodies, especially having girls just like you.
02:46I think it's really important to teach girls about nutrition.
02:49Yeah.
02:50And teach them about what serves their body in a proper way.
02:53Because what happens is they get to that point where they start becoming aware of their body.
02:58They start comparing themselves to other girls.
03:00And then what do they do?
03:02They don't eat.
03:03And I think that that's so important because I want them to have a positive attitude when
03:08it comes to food, when it comes to nutrition, and not struggle with things that like I struggled
03:13with, whereas for them, hopefully they walk away with the right tools that they need and
03:16they know what to eat and how to fuel their body in different ways and what benefits them.
03:21And then when they get to a place like me after having kids, they're like, hey, this is what
03:25I got to do.
03:26Thanks, mom.
