00:00Anytime you doubt me, you're honestly going to be proven wrong because I'm the type of person when I want
00:06something, I go after it, I get it, I'm a beast.
00:09Lala Milan, I would say that I am an entertainer.
00:13Being a comedian, actress, and black woman is black magic.
00:20From jump, I always wanted to do everything, but I just had to find the one thing that would help
00:27me to have a nice growth path, if you will.
00:31Life Before Fame was, hmm, in three words, check to check-ish, if you will.
00:38Being a comedian from Instagram was kind of a struggle because a lot of people didn't want to take me
00:44serious as an actress.
00:45It was so difficult growing on Instagram initially.
00:51Oddly enough, the people who you know and the people who you think would support you first don't really care
00:57to see what you have going on until other people, strangers, are interested in what you have going on.
01:04When it comes to staying positive and also just being confident, that's something that I had to grow organically as
01:11I climbed through social media.
01:13Being a public figure online, I get a lot of hate.
01:16It used to be about me having acne, me not having titties.
01:20On the internet, everybody gets that, you know, keyboard courage.
01:24My boyfriend always says, what you feed shall grow, what you starve shall die.
01:28So I started to pay less attention to the negative things and I was like, look, these people will never
01:33say anything negative to my face.
01:36It's always positive reinforcement in person.
01:38So I like to dwell in the real world, so I really just focus on everything that I receive in
01:44real life.
01:45Childhood Lala was apparently a whole lot different than what I thought.
01:50My mom said I was really, really quiet, but I don't remember being quiet.
01:54I thought I was, you know, loud and entertaining, but apparently I was just like an introverted weirdo.
02:01I think I finally came out of my shell when I was in high school.
02:05Lala Milan is hardworking, educated, and persistent.
02:10I'm going to throw in a bonus.
02:12And bilingual.
02:13I learned Spanish when I was in high school.
02:15One day when I was sitting in the back of the bus with the Spanish kids, somebody said something.
02:20And I was like, what did you say?
02:21Everybody was dying laughing, all his friends.
02:24And I was like, the next time you say something in Spanish, I'm going to understand.
02:28Fast forward, five years later, I was working at Walgreens.
02:30That same guy came into my job.
02:33And I asked him, ¿qué dices de cuando estábamos en el lado?
02:36I asked him, what did you say when we was in the bus?
02:39And he was like, what?
02:40He didn't even know who the hell I was.
02:42But the point is, I proved myself right by learning Spanish.
02:46And he ain't have nothing to say, got time.
02:48The thing that's most complicated about being Lala is the fact that everybody has this perception of who I am.
02:55I find myself subconsciously trying to live up to that by pleasing everybody.
02:59And I always got to remind myself, girl, there's only one you.
03:03Please her.
