Beck & Call is a Brooklyn based catering company that is donating free meals to healthcare workers in New York City. They've already delivered over 300 lunches to those on the front lines and have run out of money. To keep their lights on as well as continue to offer this service, they're hoping people can donate to their cause.

00:26My name is Brendan Beck, and I'm the owner and founder of Beck and Call.
00:29Catering Company in NYC. Feed Those Who Are Fighting is an initiative to try to help
00:34save restaurants by feeding hospitals. Hey everyone, I just finished dropping off another
00:40120 meals to the Gracie Square Hospital on East 76th Street. Pretty much 100% of our revenue just
00:47dropped. In order to like try to save the company, me and my friend were kind of just like coming
00:52up
00:52with an idea. As he mentioned, hospitals are you know really getting hit hard. Maybe there's
00:57something you guys can do in donating food to them. First delivery was to Woodhull Hospital.
01:02Got to the kitchen, we cooked off everything. We brought about 100 sandwiches and salads.
01:07We dropped off around like 4 or 5 p.m. that day. We delivered to a back entrance. The
01:12volunteers came out, you know, everybody wearing masks, etc. But with carts and then we just loaded
01:17onto the carts. Hospital workers are all grateful, but realistically like we are extremely grateful
01:22because you are giving us the ability to keep our employees on payroll.
01:27I have two chefs that are doing the bulk of the cooking and then I jump in to help, you
01:32know,
01:32plate the sandwiches when I need to and then my role has kind of been coordinating with the hospitals
01:37and doing the deliveries. It's basically just like a family, kind of like a team effort between
01:42the three of us. We were planning on opening a storefront before all this, but obviously that's not
01:47happening. The most amazing part about the whole deal of feeding the hospitals is the hospitals are
01:52supporting the restaurant industry and the restaurant industry is supporting the hospitals
01:57at the same time. I'm worried about a lot of my friends for going out of business and if we
02:02can get
02:02more people involved, we can get that many more meals out. I really can't thank everybody,
02:07you know, all of you for your support, you know, whether you're sharing, you know, sharing our story
02:12and helping us get the initiative around or, you know, donating or connecting us with hospitals,
02:17it all helps. The goal is to put out as many meals as possible and get as many restaurants
02:22involved as possible, you know, because everybody's struggling right now. I would like to be feeding
02:26more of the public hospitals because from like what I've seen, those are the hospitals that have
02:31been hit the hardest. I would like to be able to double the amount of food that we're doing every
02:35day,
02:35200 meals a day, so 1,400 meals a week. In six years of, you know, owning back and call
02:41for cooking
02:42for people. I haven't felt like this type of joy ever. I feel really grateful to be able to do
02:49it.
02:49Super, super fortunate to be able to try to help people just by feeding them a sandwich. Not much,
02:54but we're trying.
