00:00I'm definitely really nervous about this transformation, but I'm guessing that
00:04Chris is gonna make it look even better. Wish me luck. My name is Corey. I live
00:08here in New York City. I work in publicity and I'm really excited today
00:12because my blonde hair is going to become brown, I'm gonna be a brunette, and
00:17guess who's doing my hair? Chris Appleton, celebrity hairstylist. When I was 13,
00:22ready to get a bat mitzvah, I was begging my mom for me to get highlights. I had
00:26really ugly braces, so I was trying to take the attention away from my braces
00:30and make my hair look good, and ever since I've been getting highlights, so I've
00:34just kind of been in a pattern, a little bit of a habit. I think embracing this
00:38brunette style will bring out a new flair. Honestly, I was a little skeptical about
00:42dyeing my hair, but when I heard it was Chris Appleton, I was totally for it and
00:46really excited. I'm obsessed with Hustlers, JLo, and obviously everyone loves Kim
00:50Kardashian, so who better to let transform my hair than Chris?
01:02Hey guys, my name's Chris Appleton, and I'm Colorwell's Creative Ambassador. I'm so
01:07excited to see Kori's hair. She's been highlighting her hair for a while. She's
01:10been kind of stuck in this blonde world where she feels like she's kind of a
01:13slave to it, so I'm really excited to be taking her back to more of a natural
01:16color, adding some vibrancy and shine, and guess giving her a whole new lease of
01:20life with this brunette hair. Okay, so what are we gonna do today? I hear you're up for a
01:24transformation. Yeah, so I've been getting highlights forever, and I'm here to
01:29embrace a little bit of my natural dirty blonde light brown. You say dirty blonde
01:33light brown, are you gonna go big or go home?
01:35I'm thinking we're gonna go all the way there. I wanna go a little big, but I still
01:39wanna like have my eyebrows matched. Blonde is darkened down. I think it looks good on
01:44you, but I think we should take you to a brunette. I would say taking it back
01:48towards your natural color, but keeping some warmth in it, so it will add a bit of
01:51dimension with tones of brown, so it, you know, it's not one solid color, but I
01:55think this is really gonna make your eyes pop. We won't take it too dark so it's too
01:58severe because I think that'll be the wrong way to go. I think kind of keeping it in the
02:01middle will be dramatic enough for you and make it feel really different. I'm excited.
02:05I'll make my green eyes pop. Go for it. Let's make it all pop. With brown hair, you
02:11have warmth in your hair. You have pigments in your hair. You're kind of
02:14staining it, if you like. So when we put the brown over the top, it's a truer,
02:18richer color. So this is not the end result, but it's just like a fill-up. I think it's
02:23gonna be fun to go into work on Monday and people be like, wait, is that you still and
02:27not recognize me? But I also think it's kind of funny that I have a hinge date
02:31tonight. This guy is gonna be like, wait, who is this girl? I matched with a blonde.
02:34Hopefully he likes my personality. He isn't there for my hair.
02:45We used Redken shades to fill the hair and add color pigment to the hair.
02:50Effectively, what that does is allows the base color to sit on top of that. If I
02:54just put a dark on top of the hair, it's gonna get wishy-washy.
03:03I think I always have fun regardless of my hair color. So I don't think that's
03:07gonna change or stop me, but maybe being a brunette is gonna be having more fun. I
03:11never saw it coming.
03:19The next step was to take sections of hair, root the hair, so add a bit of a darker base,
03:25and then drag that through in sections. I took triangular sections and took some pieces through
03:30to the ends and left some pieces out.
03:31That really was because I wanted dimension in the color.
03:36So then we washed the color off of the backwash and the pieces that I left out, we then toned
03:41to add a little bit more vibrancy, so you got a multi-dimensional finish.
03:52I think I'm lucky to be in the position I'm in. It takes a lot of hard work, I guess
03:57a lot
03:57of determination. I've been doing this job since I was nine years old. I started doing
04:02my mom's hair. I realized that when you give someone good hair, like, they responded to
04:06that, and that response was really addictive to me. I guess I felt like it was my superpower,
04:10making people feel good, because that never goes out of fashion.
04:13I'm excited. Let's go. We've got a big reveal.
04:16Dun-dun-dun! It looks so good.
04:27You're making me feel confident. Maybe I should take the leap of faith and get rid of mine.
04:31Should we both be matching brunettes? Should we both be brunettes?
04:33We did, though. You look great. You see the lightness that comes through the underneath?
04:37It kind of has that multi-dimensional look. I feel so confident. It looks so good. I got a date.
04:42Okay, well, let's see. Let's see what he says. I mean, I think you look amazing.
04:46Thank you so much. Your hair looks so healthy and shiny.
04:48You're the best. Thank you. Thank you. Bye.
04:49Wow. I am truly blown away. I love it so much. I'm so, so, so happy. Like, Chris is amazing.
04:57He made this look so good, like, beyond my wildest dreams. I'm feeling so confident, ready to take on my
05:03day.
05:03I definitely am doubting ever getting my hair colored by anyone else ever again.
05:08I mean, how can you top Chris Appleton doing your hair? I don't know.
05:11How can we do the right hair단 because I know you can wear them, but what should you do now?
05:12I mean, how can you throw back the hair down and go away forever?
05:14I bet the time to go on the left?
