00:02So what? My nose pic?
00:05Just making sure.
00:07Hey guys, it's me Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:10Today may be the last day that you see me with pink hair.
00:17So I love my pink hair. I've had it since January so it's been a few months now
00:21and purple has definitely been on my list.
00:23I am transitioning my hair to lilac today.
00:26I've been gathering some celebrity images,
00:28examples of things that I would want my lilac hair to look like.
00:32So Billie Eilish is on there, Jordan Dunn's there, Nicole Richie.
00:36I'm gonna bring this little portfolio of photos to my hair colorist Madison
00:39and we're going to mix the perfect color for me
00:41and you guys are gonna see the entire process.
00:45Stay tuned. The next time you see me, I will have purple hair.
00:49I'm back! And as you can see, I've gone purple.
00:53When I got my hair dyed pink, I asked you guys what color I should do
00:57and an overwhelming number of you said lilac, lavender, purple, like a lot.
01:03So I went over to the salon and before we could even start mixing the color,
01:06we had to deal with all of my new growth.
01:08So I'm here with Madison here at Spoken Wheel.
01:11We have been hanging out for the past six months doing my touch-up.
01:14So we've been talking about going lilac for a really long time, right?
01:18Since almost the beginning.
01:19Since like January.
01:21Alright, so before we kind of sit down and look at inspiration pictures,
01:24we need to get your roots touched up.
01:27So let's get started.
01:28I've been getting my hair touched up every four to six weeks.
01:31This time I pushed it. I was very close to the seven week mark, but we still made it work.
01:36Madison bleached my roots with the help of her lovely assistant, Kat.
01:39And we sat tight there while it was doing its magic.
01:43So right after she bleached my hair, Madison brought me over to the shampoo bowl.
01:47She rinsed out all the bleach, which felt amazing, and moved on to DDL.
01:53So DDL is a chemical.
01:55It stands for direct dye lifter.
01:57And what it does essentially is strip out all of the pink pigment in my hair
02:01so that it could make room for all the purple pigment that's going to go into my hair.
02:05Once that was rinsed out, Madison glossed my hair twice just to get it to a more neutral color palette
02:11before going in with the first base color,
02:15which was the purple kind of grayish color that laid down the base for my color.
02:20Then came the fun part, the mixing.
02:23I wanted a kind of cooler purple tone for my hair.
02:26So I brought in a couple of photos.
02:28I wanted something that fell in between the Billie Eilish color, the Jordan Dunn color,
02:31and the Nicole Richie color.
02:33We mixed it all up together, and voila, I had my color.
02:37So after putting in my base color and washing it out,
02:40she rough dried my hair just to get it a little bit on the drier side
02:43before Kat and Madison painted the mixture we created all over my hair.
02:48I was wondering if you have any tips in terms of working with your colorist
02:52on transitioning your hair on a, you know, semi-regular basis.
02:56When you're transitioning from one color to the next,
02:58you want to start with kind of the same color palette.
03:00So you want to do something that's in the pinks and the purples before you move on to the greens
03:04and the blues.
03:05When you do something as strong as a blue or green,
03:08they have more longevity and they stay in the hair a little bit longer.
03:11So that means when they fade, like these blues will fade to more of sea foam and greens.
03:16What's the color that you've noticed fades the fastest?
03:18Anything that's going to be a pastel.
03:20Pinks and purples, anything those pastels are going to fade super quick.
03:24Sat there for about 20 to 30 minutes while it was like infusing into my hair,
03:30headed over to the shampoo bowl, washed it all out, and I had purple hair.
03:40That was pretty much the entire process.
03:42It took like five hours.
03:44If you have creative hair color like this,
03:47you come to terms with the fact that it's going to take a long time.
03:48It's going to take a lot of time out of your life.
03:50Alright, are you ready?
03:51Yes.
03:52Okay.
03:53I love it!
03:54Ah!
03:55The first color change in the books.
03:58I've had my hair bleached for a little over six months now,
04:02and even though I do think my hair is in a relatively healthy place,
04:06it's of course drier than it was when I had not dyed it.
04:08And I wanted to ask Madison, what are some extra things I can be doing
04:12to make sure that my hair is really healthy?
04:14Because I'm already doing everything that you said to do,
04:16like not putting it up in a ponytail,
04:18masking my hair,
04:20avoiding washing it too much,
04:22but I still feel like I'm scared that I'll get to a place
04:25where I'm going to not be able to color it anymore.
04:27We're never going to let your hair get to that place.
04:29You can have platinum hair and it be seemingly healthy and long.
04:33Things that you can do at home,
04:35a silk pillow is really great.
04:36Nothing that's like a tough texture.
04:39It doesn't tug on it,
04:40so it's not going to add into any type of breakage.
04:42You don't want to use any type of heavy, dense type of brush,
04:46so like a wet brush or a comb is really great.
04:49When you blow dry your hair at home, make sure you rough dry.
04:51You want to get like 75-80% of the moisture out,
04:54because if you put soaking wet hair in a brush and then heat right on it,
04:58it's too much heat hitting one area for too long.
05:00Got it.
05:00So you want to get most of the moisture out,
05:02and then go in with your styling brush.
05:04When you use any type of heat styling, whether it's curling iron, flat iron,
05:08you don't need to be on the highest heat.
05:09Your hair is already dry, so use like the lowest setting.
05:12Really?
05:12So what about like numbers-wise?
05:16I think it's usually around like 280 if you have a number.
05:20Okay, I'm doing like 400 right now.
05:22You don't really need, no, you don't need 400.
05:23What about like product?
05:25We kind of discussed this a little bit earlier.
05:27You want to stay away from masking every single time.
05:30Which is what I have been doing.
05:31Yes.
05:31You don't need to add that much protein into your hair.
05:35Your hair will only hold on to so much.
05:36So if you over protein, it's kind of like uncooked spaghetti.
05:40Your hair is just going to snap.
05:41Every other time, you kind of want to add a mask.
05:44Every other wash?
05:44Yeah.
05:45Okay, cool.
05:45Thank you so much.
05:47Alright, it was good seeing you.
05:48So those are the things that I have to keep doing.
05:50I'm excited to keep up the lilac at least for a couple months before I get bored of it
05:55and dream something new.
05:56I hope you guys enjoyed this video and I will see you guys next week.
06:00Bye!
