Maintaining colored hair can be a lot of work, so Mi-Anne gives you some tips on Beauty with Mi.

00:00Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:02As you guys know, I dyed my hair in January and I went pink.
00:06And since then, I have been on a hunt for products that will A, maintain the color of my hair
00:12and B, maintain the health of my hair.
00:15And I feel like I've gotten to a good place with the products, so I decided to do a little
00:20hair update because you guys have been asking for it.
00:22Without further ado, let's get into my hair routine.
00:27Before I dyed my hair, I washed my hair pretty much every single day.
00:30I have had a very oily scalp, but now that my hair is a lot drier, my hair is absorbing
00:36a lot of the oil that my scalp produces, so I only need to wash my hair about twice a
00:39week.
00:40So before I even get in the shower, I always put on a hair mask.
00:44It's called Mask for Beautiful Color.
00:45I just put it in my hair dry.
00:47I can't be bothered to put a mask in, in my wet hair, and sit around in the shower for
00:53like 10 minutes while it absorbs naked and cold.
00:56So I get a huge scoop full of it and put it into my hair, put it up into a
01:00little bun,
01:01and then just kind of do stuff around my house until it's absorbed.
01:05This mask is really nice.
01:06It is ridiculously expensive, but I do think it keeps my hair really soft.
01:11Then once I'm in the shower is when I will wash my hair.
01:15Now, I use this shampoo, it's called the Whey Repair Shampoo, and it is so good.
01:22I don't know if this happens to you guys with double processed hair, but now that I
01:25wash my hair a lot less, I get more dandruff.
01:28So what I do in the shower, which I didn't do before, is I really give my scalp a good
01:32massage and a good exfoliation when I'm doing my shampoo.
01:35So after I shampoo my hair, I usually move on to conditioner.
01:38Now I know that I've already masked, so I already have the moisture that I need in my hair,
01:42but I use conditioner to inject more color.
01:45So I use this conditioner from Overtone, and it's called the Daily Pastel Pink Conditioner,
01:49and I mix it with this other conditioner that's purple from this brand called Function of Beauty.
01:55Now Function of Beauty is a really interesting brand because they customize shampoo to your
02:00hair type, so not a single shampoo and conditioner they've ever made is the same.
02:05I'll put a little bit of the pink conditioner in my hand, and then a couple pumps of the purple
02:09conditioner in my hand, mix it together, and smooth it through my hair, really working
02:14it in to every bit.
02:16And then I leave it in my hair for about two to three minutes, like while I'm washing
02:20my body or shaving, and then I rinse it out.
02:23It won't dye your hair the two or three shades darker, but what it will do is inject just a
02:29little bit of color so that what you're losing when you shampoo your hair gets put back in
02:34when you condition.
02:34And that's pretty much my entire hair washing routine, I get out of the shower, and I typically
02:39air dry.
02:40Madison, my colorist at Spoken Weal, told me that after I got my hair bleached, I would
02:44notice a bit of textural change, so I have.
02:47My hair is a bit more wavy, it has a bit more of that beachy texture that I actually really
02:52like.
02:52I'll usually spend about two to three days just rocking my air dried hair, but then on
02:57the third or fourth day is when it starts to get a little bit greasy, so I'll use a little
03:01bit of dry shampoo.
03:02It is the Chloraine Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk.
03:05This is a non-aerosol version, so instead of having an aerosol spray, you squeeze it out,
03:11and powder it in your hair, and you kind of rub it in.
03:14I do find that this does a good job of controlling oil.
03:17It also gives your hair a little bit of grittiness that's nice for styling.
03:21So toward the third or fourth day, when things start getting a little greasy, a little flat,
03:26a little dull, that's when I will pull out my straightener and style my hair.
03:30So before I straighten my hair, I'll use Nature Lab Perfect Volume Texture Mist, which
03:34is basically a liquid texturizer that also doubles as a color and heat protectant.
03:39So I'll just put this in my hair, let it dry, and then throw in some flat iron waves.
03:43I use this straightener.
03:45It's a bio-ionic straightener, and it vibrates.
03:48You can press a little button, and it goes zzzz, and it helps move the plates along your
03:53hair.
03:53I like it because it is a nice, like, one inch, and it has a tapered end here that makes
03:58it easy to curl.
03:59So John Raymond, who's one of the founders of Spoken Wheel, where I got my hair colored,
04:03actually taught me this technique.
04:04So you can do it like this, where you're kind of creating an S-wave in your hair, pulling
04:09it back and forth down, and keeping the ends straight.
04:13Or, take it and twist it like this, and then twist it twice.
04:19So what's so great about this technique is that it's supposed to look a little messy
04:24and a little tussled.
04:25You can do parts of your hair, but you don't have to worry about getting every last piece.
04:29And since my hair is, again, more textured than it was before, I find that I can just
04:33really focus on the front and get a bit of the back, and it'll be a passable look.
04:38So, as the last step of my hair styling routine, I'll throw in a little bit of texture cream.
04:43Now, if you guys have watched my videos before, you might recognize this guy.
04:47This is the Verb Texture Cream.
04:48I did a whole video talking about those products.
04:50But this is just a very lovely texturizing cream.
04:53It's very soft.
04:54You put it in your hands.
04:55I usually scrunch up in my hair to give me a little bit more texture and volume.
04:59And then I'll take the excess and smooth down my flyaways.
05:02And what I love about this cream is it does give me a little bit of a piecey texture without
05:07weighing down my hair, without making my hair feel crunchy.
05:10And that's what I love about it.
05:12So that's it, folks.
05:13I think I've done a pretty good job of paring it down.
05:17The routine itself doesn't take me that long to do.
05:20But I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
05:21I hope that you guys learned something.
05:23And I will catch you guys next week.
05:25Bye!
