00:02The first time that I ever talked about my story to politicians was horrible.
00:09It was six hours straight of me gutting myself and trying to explain why we needed civil rights.
00:18And these politicians just straight up don't understand what it's like to be a survivor.
00:22And I went home and I cried.
00:24And then the next day I got up and this time I was going to the United States Senate.
00:29And I was in an Uber ride.
00:32And the driver was this big intimidating stoic man.
00:36Didn't really talk to me.
00:37But he saw that I was going to the Senate.
00:38And so he asked me why.
00:40And I told him.
00:41And this complete stranger started crying.
00:44He's this huge guy.
00:45And he just started tears welling up out of his eyes.
00:48And he turned to me and he said, my daughter is a rape survivor.
00:52And when he stopped the car he said, can I shake your hand?
00:55Thank you so much for fighting for my daughter.
00:58Has anyone told you that they love you today?
01:00I love you.
01:02Oh my God, I'm going to cry.
01:03And I was just like, oh my God, I'm never going to forget you.
01:08So even when there are people who don't care or politicians who really pushed back,
01:15I know that I'm on the right side of history.
01:19And it's because of people all around us, even if we may not know it.
01:23And if we may not know it that they are...
01:25I love you.
01:27I love you.
01:29I love you.
01:30I love you.
01:30And I love you.
01:31I love you.
