Double Dare: Matte Lipstick Gets A Summertime Makeover

Remember those crazy-hot days last summer when it felt like your makeup was literally melting off your face? Yeah, we were right there with you. That's why we want to be prepared this season, but we also refuse to sacrifice our personal style in the name of wearing non-melty makeup.   So, we called in makeup pro James Vincent to put a summertime spin on one of our standby looks: bold lipstick. With a few choice products, he gave our associate sales development manager Alex a bright, look-at-me lip that's practically begging to be worn poolside. 00:16married to my eyeliner but in the warmer months I like to wear less makeup so I'm

00:20hoping that James can show me a bare-faced bold lip look that's perfect

00:24for summer I would love to show you a bold bright lip and how to wear that

00:28really easily cool good let's do it all right I'm using a lip pencil and that's

00:34gonna help the bold bright lip stay in place and give us kind of more of a

00:37fashion edge hold it like a pencil and use the whole edge catching it right on

00:42to the lip and I'm using a pencil color that's close to the lip shade that has a

00:46bit of a blue tone and the brightness to it and so everyone should choose a lip

00:51color that works for them next I'm using a matte long wear lip color and I'm using

00:57a lip brush to apply it and the trick with bold bright colors is to start in

01:01the center of the lip and really kind of use your brush to make sure that you're

01:06getting your color where you need it one of the things that I like to do is use

01:10the edge of the brush to go in and get my definition just to bring in some

01:15balance I'm bringing a blonde brow gel right through the entire brow that will

01:20help keep your brow in place all summer long but also give it a fun beachy feel

01:25that is great for those warm summer months I love this look you're ready
