We've never met a bright lipstick we didn't like. But, bright eye makeup? Now, that's another story. Hot-hued shadows just aren't as user-friendly as our tried-and-true neutrals. But, with the sunny days of summer finally on the horizon, we figured there was no better time to conquer our fear of bold, bright, look-at-me eyes.

So, we called in makeup pro James Vincent to teach us how to wear eyeshadow that stands out for all the right reasons. With his help, our fashion assistant Rachel landed herself a pink-and-purple look that's ripe for summertime. Check it out in all its brightly colored glory, above.

00:13I've only worn eyeshadow about five times in my life so James is gonna teach
00:17me how to do some really great spring eyeshadow. You've got beautiful green
00:21eyes. Traditionally people would gravitate right towards purple and I
00:25think that is a good color choice to bring out all that beautiful color in
00:28your eye but I want to show you a way to keep it modern and simple and make it
00:32really fun and easy to wear. Good? So I'm starting with a soft purple shadow on a
00:37firm dense brush and I'm just bringing this color all over the lid from brow
00:41to lash. A lighter color is gonna open something up bring something out or make
00:45something look larger and so we're using a softer shadow shade but it definitely
00:49has some violet presence to it. So my second step is to take a purple shade in
00:54a kind of medium tone and I'm gonna bring that on the lid from crease to lash.
00:58I'm starting here in the center of the eye. Remember wherever you put your brush
01:02down is your strongest deposit of color. When Rachel's eye is open we don't see a
01:06lot of the lid so I'm just kind of using the edge of the brush to create some
01:11definition and then I'm going in with a softer brush and I'm just blending it
01:15right into the crease. You can even go in with your finger if you need to just to
01:19take those hard edges off. And now for the wow I'm going in with a pink pencil. I'm
01:24holding it like a pencil and I'm bringing this right onto the lash line for a
01:29smudgy unexpected sexy liner look. Then I'm going in with a pencil brush and just
01:35smudging that right up. I'm gonna get the other eye ready for you and then I'm
01:39gonna reveal it to you. The big reveal. The big reveal. Sound good? Yeah. Alright.
01:48Tell me what you think. Oh yeah that's really awesome. Definitely the only pink eye
01:53I would want to have. Well conjunctivitis is not sexy kids but pink eyeliner is
01:58definitely the way to go for spring and summer. Thank you. Thank you babe.
