00:05This year, the trend is ombre. Everyone's seeing it. I really want to try it out on my lips, get
00:11a little crazy, so here we go. I'm going to give it a shot.
00:13What is it about this ombre lip that has you so afraid?
00:19James, like, I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not afraid. I'm just really excited. I've never done it
00:23before, and you're the master when it comes to my makeup.
00:26You teach me everything cool, so I don't want to go out there some amateur hour ombre lip. I want
00:31you to show me how to do it.
00:32I'm like the Yoda of your makeup application.

00:37Yeah, it's real.
00:38One of the things you want to think about when you're choosing any lip color is how it relates to
00:42the rest of your makeup.
00:43With your beautiful blue eye color and your gorgeous outfit, I thought going something in the orange family that's a
00:49complementary color of the blue will really make everything pop.
00:52So I'm starting with an orange lip pencil. Hold it like a pencil. Use the whole tip, not just the
00:57point.
00:57And then we're just going to sketch it right along the lip line. I don't want anything that's too hard,
01:03and I'm just shearing it up the lip.
01:07Now, I'm not applying much to the top because I'm going to bring the color up lighter as I work
01:12my way up.
01:13What a lot of women are doing with ombre is outlining the entire lip with their darker color, and to
01:18me, all that does is flash me back to my, like, 90s hip-hop heyday.
01:23Next, I'm taking another pencil in the same orange family. We're working with a monochromatic look.
01:29Monochromatic means multiple colors in the same family.
01:32So I'm using a softer peach pencil, and I'm just working it right over my orange that I've already applied.
01:39But this time I'm going up a little further onto the top lip.
01:43We're gradiating the color lighter as we work our way up.
01:46So next I'm going to one of my favorite glosses, and it has a beautiful kind of corally color to
01:52it.
01:52And we're bringing that in on the bottom lip, and then right into the center of the top lip.
01:58And then finally, our lightest color of all, and we're taking that right onto the bow of the lip.
02:07And just to finish it off, we're back to our bright bold orange pencil, and I'm just anchoring the whole
02:15makeup with a deep pop of color.
02:18Oh, I like it! My lips look like a sunset.
02:21It's a really super wearable look, and that gradation of color makes the lip look fuller,
02:26instead of really outlining with a hard lip line.
02:28Now, if you want more drama, just choose more separation in your colors.
02:32But if you want something simple that you can wear every day, this is the way to go.
