00:09Today is the day I'm gonna try and conquer one of my biggest beauty fears
00:12which is lip liner in 2013. Wish me luck. You've got a fear of lip liners right?
00:20It's true. I mean I think about lip liner and I just transport back to Donna
00:24Martin graduates. Well I do love your nod to the 90s reference but what I
00:29want to show you is how you can use the lip liner in a way that will give you
00:34definition and dimension without looking like a 90s supermodel. Okay that sounds
00:39great. Good. I'm gonna start with a concealer pencil and what we're going to
00:43do is line that right along your top lip line right above your natural line. A
00:49lighter color is gonna open something up bring something out or make something
00:52look larger. We're making the lip look fuller. Next we're gonna take our lip liner
00:57and we're gonna hold it like a pencil using the whole tip and not just the
01:01point. We're gonna sketch that right along the actual lip line and I'm
01:06choosing a shade that is close to your own lip color. Next we're using the pencil
01:11and we're going right over that bit of highlight that we brought on and we're
01:16bringing it right out right into the bow and then right out to the corner of the
01:20lip and I'm just bringing it from one corner to the next. My last trick smile with
01:24teeth. When you're looking in the mirror if you smile with teeth you can get right
01:29into those corners. And so I'm just going to blend this right up and you can see
01:34even without adding lip color over it how we've brought so much dimension and
01:39shape to your lips. So take a look let me know what you think. Oh wow. Very simple.
01:46The goal is to make it look realistic. James thank you so much it really turned out
01:50great. It's all about subtlety. One or two strokes above the actual lip line
01:54we want people to think this is your natural look not makeup. Honestly you
02:00should have been around in the 90s when Donna Martin was graduating.
