"Work-life balance" is one of those buzzy phrases that's rarely quantified. However, for Jodie Patterson, with five kids and two beauty businesses to juggle, that high-level efficiency is a function as essential as breathing. The former PR guru got plenty of experience multitasking by running the show as PR director at Zac Posen. But, it wasn't until she watched a documentary on the business of natural hair care that she decided to make her own mark in the beauty industry. Like the passionate go-getter she is, Patterson opened a cosmetics boutique in Soho (which she ultimately turned into an online store called DooBop) and spearheaded the creation of her own organic beauty line, Georgia.

00:17around the topic of beauty. I make product as well for skin and hair. I have so many people and

00:22many things you do each day. It's really important to maximize the time I spend. What I try to do
00:26is
00:26touch the five things that are really important to me. Time for myself, my kids, my love, my business,
00:31and health and spirituality. I like things in my life to look really pretty because it makes you
00:36feel good. I rarely choose things that are just functional. I try to go towards things that make
00:41me nervous. The goal is not to be uncomfortable, but the goal is to evolve and to expand. Winners
00:45are losers that got back up. So just that alone, if you can muster up the energy to get back
00:49up after
00:50you've failed at something, that discomfort that you're feeling, when you get past that, it's a really good thing.
