How To Make Mom Jeans Work

Like any great revolution, the mom-jeans takeover has been met with some skepticism. Resistance, even. But, I'm a firm believer in their subtle practicality and an early adopter to the style. I have a stack of loose-fitting, light-washed, straight-leg pants in my dresser, and, honestly, I get just as much wear out of them as I do my skinny jeans. The trick? Knowing how to play up the pants' attitude in the rest of the outfit. Whether you're running errands in an equally oversized sweater or going to a stylish holiday party, mom jeans have your back. Or, should I say, butt. In this quick video, I make a case for my beloved denim with three easy-to-copy outfits to try now. Have a look and then hit up a mom's closet near you.

00:00Mom jeans are a controversial piece because a lot of people don't find them flattering.

00:03I however happen to love them.

00:05I think they're a great way to add attitude to any outfit and are super comfortable.

00:09So today I'm going to make three outfits out of this specific pair and I love these because

00:13they're light wash, high rise and straight lead.

00:21I always wear mom jeans on the plane because I think it's a great way to stay a little

00:25bit polished but as I said super comfortable.

00:27So I'm going to make a travel outfit with this sweater, a blazer to polish it off and because

00:34I just saw a beanie which caught my eye and it's cold out, we'll use this and these booties.

00:44So this is my ideal travel outfit because I could really wear these mom jeans for six hours

00:48on a plane and feel really good about it.

00:51I like the idea of putting a textured blazer over top because then I feel polished enough

00:55to meet people right when I get off the plane.

00:57And these booties are a nice touch because I can just zip them up and go through TSN.

01:05So for the second outfit let's try something a bit more dressed up.

01:08This shirt is super fun but I want to keep it warm so I'll layer this one underneath.

01:14And I'm going to want to pair that with a ladylike bag.

01:16I love this one.

01:18And we'll finish off the look with some heels.

01:23So the second look is definitely more daring than the first but I love it because the color

01:28palette and the shape is unexpected.

01:30I would wear this to a holiday party and feel really fun dancing in it.

01:37For the last look I'm going to do something super comfortable.

01:39I'm going to start with a boxy sweater, some easy booties and an oversized bag.

01:46So this last outfit is the ultimate running errands look.

01:51I love pairing an oversized sweater with these casual jeans and knock around booties.

01:54I have everything I need in this big bag and best of all I'm cozy.

02:03Mom jeans may not be for everybody but they're slowly becoming one major denim silhouette and
