00:00My beautiful, smart seven-year-old daughter, Ainsley, I was shocked by this.
00:06My wife let her pick out the biggest pumpkin in the world.
00:09This joint was no lie, like 35 pounds.
00:11I had to carve it out, get the guts out.
00:13I was thrilled about that.
00:15Jeff's playing the same music we listened to for pumpkin carving last night.
00:18You playing Kidz Bop Halloween 26?
00:21I mean, it is Halloween tomorrow.
00:23Been a little festive.
00:25Scrooge.
00:26I don't think any kid's listening to the show right now.
00:28You're very festive, Jeff.
00:29When I think of Jeff, I think of festive.
00:32Now, it is a Football Friday presented by Adios Premium, canned margaritas.
00:37Say hello to Adios, DC.
00:39B, I may have eyes on two cases of Adios.
00:43I had to sneak into an office today and do a Zoom.
00:47You found him?
00:48Well, think about the new boss around here.
00:51He probably got some of those Adios canned margaritas, right?
00:54He don't drink.
00:54And he doesn't drink.
00:55Yeah.
00:55All of a sudden, there's two cases of them.
00:57You know, I think he's changing.
00:59You think he's starting to drink?
01:00I think he's changing, bro.
01:02Yo, if Toby starts to drink.
01:03Why else would he be holding on to him?
01:04The pressure of being the boss is getting to him.
01:06Yeah.
01:08Speaking of the pressure of being the boss, Dan Quinn's under a lot of pressure.
01:12I have a zillion replies.
01:14I have a zillion people in my mentions telling me that I'm an idiot, and this was obviously
01:19Adam Peters bringing in Steve Wilkes.
01:21I don't think Adam Peters was against it, but to me, I very much think Durante Jones was
01:28like, yo, I need help with the defensive backs because I am a DBs guy.
01:33I know what I want it to look like.
01:35It doesn't look like that.
01:36And I can't run the whole defense and try to fix the DBs.
01:40Yeah.
01:41And I think Steve Wilkes can come in and help with the DBs.
01:44And why do I think that?
01:46If you look at the coaching roster over the last two seasons, was Joe Witt equipped to
01:54be the defensive coordinator?
01:55No.
01:56The results prove that.
01:58Is Joe Witt a good defensive backs coach?
02:00I would say yes.
02:02I mean, look at his track record in Dallas, like you can look at his track record working
02:06with DBs.
02:07You also had a defensive pass game coordinator in a young guy by the name of Justin, Jason
02:15Simmons, rather.
02:16And I think he left.
02:19Like, when you lose that much on the defensive backs side of things, and then go back and
02:27check the reporting, Durante Jones tried to hire a defensive backs assistant from LSU.
02:33It didn't work out.
02:35But like, he was trying to add to his defensive backs coaching staff.
02:38People that he knew could probably teach it how he wanted it taught.
02:41And basically, if you look at the commander's defensive coaching staff from last year to
02:47this year, they kind of held on to everybody.
02:51The only guy you would say is a Jones hire was Eric Henderson that they brought in from
02:59USC, who came in to be the defensive run game coordinator.
03:03Everybody else is a holdover that was here last year.
03:06What is the best part of their defense?
03:10The run game.
03:11Like, that's where they've excelled.
03:13The up front people.
03:14Yeah, and I'm not directly attributing that to Henderson's arrival.
03:19But like, the back end is a mess, has been a mess for two years.
03:23So you could argue maybe you got, you should clear things out and change it up.
03:27I think this is more desperation to get a win than it is palace intrigue.
03:33Oh my God, this guy's going to take over the program.
03:36I don't think anybody's taking over the program.
03:38And I don't know if it had just happened this week, I'd say desperation to get a win.
03:44But this happened weeks ago.
03:46So I don't know if it's...
03:48But it has shifted over the last 10 days.
03:49It's shifted because once you get here, you hire him and say, this is what I want.
03:54Then you get here and you get a chance to see it.
03:57And you go, maybe I need to come on the sideline.
04:00You know, you adjust things at that point.
04:02Like, I don't, if everything had already went into, gotten into motion.
04:06So it's hard for me to just look at it like, oh, it's about this week.
04:10No, it was about last week, week before too.
04:13And now they say, listen, we could use a little bit more of you on being there instead of just
04:23doing it and leaving.
04:25Because, you know, I come in and I tell you everything to do.
04:28Look, I'm going to use this example, okay?
04:30You and Scotty.
04:31When I'm on a golf course and I tell you how to do something and you do it, you normally
04:35hit it perfectly, right?
04:37And then a hole later, you don't do the same thing when you get in the same situation.
04:42Inconsistent.
04:43Scotty can't go from one swing to the next.
04:46So that's the thing.
04:47So if I said it all week and then all of a sudden now I left Friday.
04:52Yes, sir.
04:53Now Sunday comes and nobody does what I said.
04:56If I'm on that sideline, you come to the sideline, I'm like, look, remember what I said.
05:00Remember what I said?
05:00Just like when the coaches are on the field and you got, like I always say, the thing about what
05:05I love about preseason,
05:06you go from the coach being right here telling you what to do before you break a huddle.
05:12And now you got to get the play, think about all that stuff, and remember as you go to the
05:17line without a coach talking to you.
05:18And this is the same thing now where I've been telling you, and then you can't hold it for two
05:25days.
05:26And yes, I know people probably out there saying, well, you're a professional athlete.
05:29Some people can be professionals in all kinds of businesses that can't hold on to information the way they need
05:37to to be successful at the level they need to be.
05:40Agreed. I do not think this is a way to replace DQ.
05:46I do not think this is an indictment on Durante Jones.
05:49I think this brings a ton of questions about decisions made this past offseason with the coaching staff.
05:58But I do not think this is anything but desperation to get a win.
06:04That we aren't good enough.
06:05Our defense isn't good enough.
06:07How can we get it better?
06:08And if I had to guess, Durante Jones wanted some help.
06:11He wanted some extra eyes.
06:13Wanted somebody with experience on the back end.
06:17It's not a good look for the organization.
06:20Like when you see, like Charles Davis was on with us yesterday.
06:23And he's like, man, when you start to see this kind of stuff, when there's movement in the coaching staff
06:26in the middle of the season, it ain't good for anybody.
06:29Like, you know who's not doing this?
06:31The Vikings at 6-0.
06:34Like, the Chiefs aren't bringing new people in right now.
06:37You don't do this if things are going well and you're a good team.
06:40So, like right now, if they start doing things better and winning and stuff like that, that's when it's a
06:47good thing.
06:47Because you needed to make the move and you made it.
06:50If you don't make it and nothing gets better, that's not good for the organization either, right?
06:56You got to try something.
06:58Right.
06:58I don't know that this is going to fix anything or work, but everybody said you got to change something.
07:08They're trying.
07:09I think it shows a level of desperation that Quinn understands the severity of Sunday night's game.
07:18And you got a beat-up Eagles team coming in here that you wonder, I mean, frankly, I think these
07:25questions have probably existed inside of the Eagles locker room since they traded away Cam Juergens.
07:30Are we trying to win this year?
07:32Because we've seen Howie go back to 2020 when Washington was able to beat Nate Sudfeld in the second half
07:38after they benched Jalen Hurts.
07:40Howie will play NBA-style tanking.
07:43He will try to get the best picks he can.
07:46Like, we've seen it.
07:47But I don't know what this Eagles team is going to bring Sunday night to Landover.
07:51But if they – this, to me, would be a knock on Howie.
07:56You give all that money to that defensive side of the ball and then you just start wanting to tank.
08:01If I'm the boss, I'm like, hell with that.
08:03You should have told me you wanted to tank and I wouldn't have paid him.
