00:05Hi, this is Jenny from iSpyDIY here today with Refinery29 making a statement necklace inspired
00:11by the Pruenza runway. The amazing thing about this project is that you can get many of the
00:17supplies from your local hardware store and it's such a bold piece that you can jazz up any basic
00:22outfits. What you'll need for this is rope, stones, embroidery floss, needle, crazy glue, carabiner, and tape.
00:33First step is to lay out your rope to determine the shape of your necklace. We're going to do a
00:38three-tiered necklace.
00:40Starting with the blue rope, this is going to be your middle piece. Next we're going to use this black
00:47and white rope
00:48for the bottom piece and then the black and white rope again for the top tier. For the next step
00:57we're going to take our white embroidery thread and wrap it around our top tier. So for this step about
01:06a
01:06quarter of the way down tie a double knot. And then we're going to use a technique that I used
01:17to use
01:18for friendship bracelets is that you make a knot around the rope.
01:33And you keep knotting and it will create a stair pattern. Continue knotting for about a half an inch and
01:45then we're
01:45going to add our first stone. And how you do this, it has a hole in the middle so you
01:51just thread it through the rock.
01:55And then you bring it up to the top and then all you do is continue with your knotting. And
02:08there will be a
02:08string in the back but this will be the back of your necklace so you won't see.
02:17We have our first stone on and you just keep on knotting and add two more. And if you want
02:22to add a little bit of
02:24super glue at the end when you tie it off to secure the knots, it keeps it from unraveling. So
02:29your first tier
02:30should look like this. Repeat the same process on the third tier. And your necklace will look a little something
02:37like this. And then next we're
02:40going to add the blue rope. And that should go right in the center. And then we're going to connect
02:46all three
02:49using your yellow embroidery floss and your needle. So thread the floss through the needle. And then we're going to
03:02take all
03:03three pieces together. And put the needle through them. And then we're going to wrap the yellow embroidery
03:18floss around all three pieces of rope to cover up the ends. And make sure to put tape whenever you
03:29cut the end of
03:29rope to make sure it doesn't fray. After you've covered all the rope, knot your yellow string. And you can
03:40dab super glue at the
03:41end of the end of this knot too to secure it. To finish up the necklace, we're going to create
03:46two loops at the
03:48end. And we're going to do the same process of wrapping the yellow rope around to fasten it. So you
03:54take your
03:55yellow needle and thread. And you go through the end. And then we wrap and knot. After you finish your
04:07two loops,
04:07just connect them with the carabiner. And then you have your Pruenza inspired necklace for a fraction of the cost.
04:16Thanks so much and we'll see you next time.
