When a flat iron does its thing — and does it right — the results are nothing short of miraculous. Yet, as much as we favor the final product post-straightening, there are certain aspects of doing our 'do we could most definitely live without. First and foremost? The potential for hair breakage. And, not far behind? Time. Why should we be forced to choose between an extra hour of sleep and heat-styling our hair?

So, when a flat iron landed on our desks that claimed to be gentle on our locks and cut down on styling time (all by the power of vibration, mind you), we went straight (har, har) to the Beauty Test Lab. Our intrepid social-media editor, Lexi, gave it a whirl. Will this shaky styler become her new go-to? See for yourself.

00:08Hi guys, today on Beauty Test Lab we're trying out the Brocato VibraStraight Straightening
00:13Iron. As you may have guessed from the name, it vibrates. The idea is that it will speed
00:19up the straightening process and give you results faster and more easily as any good
00:23vibrator should. So let's get started. It sounds like my phone is ringing. I don't know if
00:32anything different than a regular straightening iron is happening right now. Maybe a little
00:37faster. If you've used a straightener before you know that sometimes it can kind of pull
00:42your hair a little bit. This one almost feels like it's rolling itself down. The vibration
00:47makes it seem like you're doing something really high tech. Good marketing. So I'm going to continue
00:53doing this on my whole head, obviously, and we'll see how it works out.
01:05So I think it did its job. It looks pretty straight. It took about 20 minutes. Normally it takes
01:10me half an hour, so it definitely cut down the time. It was really smooth, really easy.
01:14I think it was also able to use larger chunks of curly hair. It definitely is good if you're
01:20in a time crunch in the morning or whatever. It was nice. It definitely cut down the time,
01:23made it really easy. I would recommend it.
01:25I would recommend it.
