If it looks like a flat iron, feels like a flat iron, and operates like a flat iron, it must be a flat iron, right? In this case, wrong. Before you cast aside this straightener-like device as just another heat styler, hear this: This tool actually claims to do the opposite, restoring moisture and strength to otherwise-dry, damaged locks.

A hair-conditioning device disguised as what might be the most damaging tool of them all? We were off to the Beauty Test Lab faster than you can say "split ends." Our associate sales development manager Alex offered up her mane for a firsthand experiment. Will she emerge with strands stronger than ever? See for yourself, above.

00:12Today I'm testing the TherapyRx moisture boosting tool. It looks like a flat iron but it is actually
00:18a tool that helps deeply condition and moisturize your hair. You want to start off by wetting your
00:24hair. It needs to be damp. So once you're done dampening your hair you're going to want to
00:31apply some deep conditioner. Now I'm going to start going over it with this bad boy.
00:47While it looks like this may be producing heat it's actually not hot at all. I'm assuming there's
00:52some kind of like ultraviolet. This actually kind of feel a little softer. So I think that
01:01this product would work really well for someone with finer damaged hair. I find that with my
01:06thick hair it's always better to just deep condition and moisturize with a mask. That
01:11being said I think that if you got into the habit of using this on a regular basis like
01:15that they recommend you could probably see some results.
01:21Hey guys!
