00:01I think the most important thing is to take risks and to constantly challenge
00:04yourself and if other people see that as provocative then that's their choice to
00:09make. I feel like whenever you take risks that's how you learn who you are.
00:18My name is Celia Rolson-Hall and I'm a choreographer and filmmaker.
00:22I'm Rachel Yeager. I just opened a gallery with my best friend.
00:26My name is Chrissy Anglicer and I'm a painter.
00:28My name is Zaria Forman and I'm an artist. I work on large-scale pastel drawings
00:33documenting climate change.
00:34My name is Corvette LaFace and I am a burlesque performer.
00:40Taking a risk or being bold, it really means pursuing something even when you don't
00:45know what's going to happen, which is basically what we all do as artists or musicians.
00:50If my gut tells me something is a good idea, I'm usually right.
00:54What taking a risk and being bold means to me is just being yourself.
00:57I think I push the limits in the music industry by really just trying to put all the sounds
01:02together that I love. There's no difference to me between marrying rock and hip-hop and electronic
01:07punk, doing whatever I feel in that moment.
01:10Having beauty infused in my compositions is very important to draw people into the imagery,
01:16to get people to have a connection with the landscape and care about it.
01:19For me, more is more, loud is better.
01:22In terms of femininity, a lot of it is in the details.
01:26You can take three minutes to take that glove off and it's the most delicate, soft, beautiful
01:31thing in the world. To me, that's a lot of power that comes from that femininity.
01:3680% of the time I spend is dipped in, like, paint-dipped clothes.
01:42And then it's really exciting for me to get dressed up and, like, maybe wear some bright lipstick.
01:47And I kind of like to have everything else a little bit more simple so that I feel more connected
01:51to myself.
01:55When we collaborate with artists or we make art ourselves, we're just really going off a gut feeling and intuition.
02:01We haven't let the standard definitions of anything weigh too heavily on anything we do.
02:06I dress for myself. I put my makeup on for myself. I put perfume on for myself.
02:11That's how I constantly push myself, like, reminding myself that I make myself beautiful for me.
02:17Taking risks within yourself and then with beauty and then trying to be provocative gives you confidence,
02:23which is everything I ever look for.
02:25The beauty is the push and the questioning and sort of throwing it all up in the air.
