00:07Hi everyone, it's Taylor from Refinery29. As summer rolls around and the temperatures
00:12rise, you're going to want a couple of creative ways to do your hair that aren't your boring
00:15everyday ponytail. So today I'm going to show you two easy ways to do a fun creative top
00:20knot. Today I'll be using L'Oreal's L-Net hairspray. I'll be securing the style using
00:26a stretchy hair tie and bobby pins. To create volume, I'll be using a comb created specifically
00:31for backcombing, which you can find at any beauty supply store. The first style I'm going
00:35to show you works best with medium length hair. We're going to start by putting your hair
00:39in a super high ponytail. You're going to want to put the ponytail where you want the top
00:47knot to be, so get it as high as possible. Using a thick rubber band, you're going to
00:51want to secure the hair. To give the hair more hold, you're going to want to start by coating
01:05it with hairspray. Make sure you get the whole ponytail coated. Now, sectioning the ponytail
01:18off into two pieces, we're going to quite literally knot the hair. Now, it's time to pin. I like
01:36to take one section and wrap it to the front, securing it with a bobby pin. And taking the
01:47second section, going the opposite direction, securing that with a bobby pin as well.
02:02Make sure to secure any loose strands that come out. And voila! The next style I'm going
02:13to show you is best for adding volume to your top knot. You're going to want to start with
02:16your hair on the high pony again. Starting by adding hairspray again to the hair. You're
02:23going to want to coat it from the base all the way to the ends. Now is the fun part.
02:30We're
02:30going to start with small sections of the hair and back comb it. We're going to achieve this
02:34by using a back comb and pulling the hair down in sections. This works best if you work in
02:43small sections. You're going to do this by holding a strand of the hair up from the head and working
02:51down the shaft of the hair. We're going to work around the head in small sections. This particular
02:56style is going to be really great for those of you with finer hair as it's going to add
03:00more volume to your top knot. A lot of people ask how to brush this out at the end. And
03:09my suggestion
03:10is coating the hair with a good oil, I like the Moroccan oil, right before you're about
03:16to shower and combing it out. It will be the least painful for you. And it's right about
03:23now that you're going to look like the crazy guy from the Simpsons. But don't worry, we're
03:26going to fix it. Now, taking all your hair, you're going to want to pull it to the top of
03:30your head and grab onto the ends. Then, we're going to loop it around and pin the ends in
03:40with bobby pins. I like to do a couple of bobby pins around the base since this is a bit
03:50of
03:51a monster of a hairdo. You can kind of mold the shape to how you want it as well and
04:00secure any
04:00loose pieces into the bun. And there you have it, your volumized top knot. The style is going to work
04:09best for those of you with fine hair as it's going to give you the volume you've been looking for.
04:12Since I have so much hair, it looks a little cotton candy-ish right now. But we still love it.
