00:03We're watching Naughty Marietta from 1935.
00:08One of the many films that Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy made together.
00:17And what an iconic song, A Sweet Mystery of Life.
00:34Jeanette MacDonald was doing something in the 1930s that there was just no peer for her
00:39as far as her skill with these beautiful soprano moments based on well-known operettas.
00:51And you're about to see that she's also a great actress, not just a great singer.
01:02Because when Nelson Eddy starts singing, she's just so delighted.
01:07Now famously, Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy had a little bit of a romance off-screen as well.
01:13And their chemistry comes through.
01:15Is it me or does Nelson Eddy look a little bit like Robert Osborne?
01:19I really see a resemblance in the features.
01:22Maybe it's just in this character, but it's coming through for me.
01:32Now obviously, if you're a fan of Young Frankenstein,
01:36you know this song for that reason as well.
01:42But that's the original.
