00:00How did Jamie Lloyd come to you and pitch you on this and talked a little bit about working with
00:03also Andrew Lloyd Webber?
00:05I auditioned, actually. So, yeah, it wasn't pitched to me. I was doing Romeo and Juliet on Broadway.
00:13Wait, even after being in West Side Story, you had to audition for this?
00:16Yeah, of course. I still audition for lots of things.
00:20If anybody wants my number, I'll be here after.
00:24Yeah, no, I auditioned and really it was more like a work session, but I sang about 40 pages of
00:32material for Alan Williams, our music director.
00:35Jamie wanted to meet with me afterwards and we had a conversation and it was really, really lovely just to
00:41hear his idea of what this politician would look like in a modern lens on stage every night.
00:49And to have this sort of Coachella set of Eva Perón pitched to me was it was so bizarre in
00:57the best way, which is kind of what I love about Jamie's work is that he's constantly reinventing the wheel
01:02in any way that he can.
01:03And so it was kind of a no brainer when I heard that they needed somebody.
01:07I was like, I want I called my agent using FaceTime audio because I was working in a basement on
01:14Broadway underneath Wicked and basically was like, do whatever you need to do to get me an audition in that
01:19room.
01:20And I'm so glad that I did.
