00:02Jason Rigby was living his dream in paradise, helping to manage a resort in Nundi, Fiji.
00:09Working, surfing, golfing and having the best time.
00:12But in December 2024, the 40-year-old was found dead in his staff accommodation with stab wounds to the
00:18chest.
00:18Fiji police initially deemed his death a suicide, but his family didn't accept that and began an unrelenting fight for
00:26answers.
00:26If we're not sitting down every morning being like, all right, what else do we chase up? You know, what
00:30are we doing next?
00:31There'd no way be where we are today in the case.
00:34The Rigby family has employed a private investigator as well as lawyers in Australia and Fiji.
00:40To a remarkable degree, it is the family that have also carried this matter forward.
00:47We haven't really been told anything from the start, any advice or anything what to do.
00:52We've had to research ourselves and what to do next.
00:56Fijian prosecutors are reviewing the case and are yet to decide if they will reopen the investigation.
01:02The Department of Foreign Affairs says it regularly engages Fijian authorities for updates and offers consular support to the family.
01:11One legal expert says it's time to escalate that.
01:14It's incumbent upon DFAT and the Foreign Minister to go and ask their counterparts in Fiji,
01:20where is this at, what's going on, please give us an update so we can tell the family.
01:24Hopefully the Australian Government can step in and help and assist with the investigation.
