00:14Jake Bailey on the punt, and he's going to try to give his defense a long field to defend.
00:20Jake Bailey on the punt, and he's going to try to give his defense a long field to defend.
00:50On this man, Chris Olave, he's already close to going over the 100-yard mark receiving, and he's got that
00:58touchdown as well.
00:59As we send you back out to our team in the booth, Kate Scott and Brock Hewitt.
01:21As always, big thanks to our guy Scott Hanson and everyone down in Orlando.
01:25We're back looking at a two-score game here, Brock, as our third quarter gets underway.
01:45Smith has it on the tee, and it's ready to send it flying.
01:51This one's fielded at the four-yard line, and this drive will start inside the 25.
01:57The Falcons' offense now with a football first to begin quarter number three.
02:01That passing game they went to in the first half, it's going to need to be fiery to start this
02:06second half too as they chase this lead.
02:17First call here, coming from the shotgun.
02:24Tender by Lua, back to throw.
02:27Pressure gets there, the defense gets home, he's dropped at the 14.
02:31And after one play, this drive might already be in trouble, but it's going to push him back for a
02:35second down.
02:36That is not the way they needed to come out of the locker room here to begin the second half.
02:40Trailing, you've got to play with a sense of urgency, you've got to protect your quarterback.
02:44And they didn't either.
02:55Second down and 19 yards to go after that sack.
03:02Now, Tender by Lua, the throw.
03:05Throwing the pressure, and they bring him down at his own five-yard loss.
03:09And the back-to-back sacks, nice work by the defense there, sets him up with a third down.
03:14One thing you learn about NFL halftimes, Kate, is they're a lot quicker than the college game.
03:19You've got to make your adjustments in a hurry, and boy, has this defense.
03:23Back-to-back sacks, setting up what could be a very quick three and out, and an early boost in
03:27the second half.
03:28Wouldn't be a comfortable spot to punt it.
03:30Can they avoid that by converting here on third?
03:35Back-to-throw.
03:36Here's Tunga by Lua.
03:38Right side, wheeled in by Pitts.
03:41And he's going to be stopped with a good way still to go.
03:43Defenders rallying to that completion.
03:45That forces fourth down.
03:47Feet-nice, Kate.
03:48Feet-nice.
03:48They so often tell the story of every position on the field.
03:51And that quarterback's feet-nice move to his secondary read.
03:55And so often it's a tight end.
03:56It's incumbent on that defense to fly to the ball.
03:59You want to make that tackle force the fourth down?
04:01It took a great defensive effort to do it.
04:07Breaks the tackle.
04:08And he's going to get a modest amount on that return before he ends up out of bounds.
04:13The Saints returning their offense and this running back to the field.
04:17And he has done all that they have asked for him.
04:19Shouldering the weight of this offense.
04:21Got his 100-yard game.
04:22He's reached the end zone for him as well, Brock.
04:25Just really put together a performance he can be proud of.
04:47First and ten.
04:48Saints find themselves with some good field positions starting out.
04:58Up to throw.
05:01This one's complete.
05:02Oscar Delft.
05:03And he's brought down.
05:04I think he made a little bit at that four-yard line.
05:06And he come through with a nice skein of ten and a first down.
05:09And those are the completions they rely on from your passing game.
05:12First and ten at the 39-yard line.
05:18So fresh set of downs now from the 39.
05:26Hey, Chan, a first down carry.
05:28He's going to stand a couple of yards, charging up the gut.
05:3190-yard there on the tackle.
05:33Hey, that's a run.
05:34It's a hump on the stat sheet.
05:36But if you see a bigger play on the ground later on,
05:38it'll largely be because of a play just like that one.
05:41Softening up the front and opening the door for a bigger gap in the future.
05:45Following that little two-yard run, it's second and eight.
05:54On the keeper.
05:55Here's Shaw.
05:56And they're on him after about a two-yard gain.
05:59That was Xavier Watts getting in there defensively.
06:01It may not show up as much on the old stat sheet, just a short little QB run.
06:05But what that does, Kate, is so important.
06:07It keeps that defense honest.
06:09And in particular, those defense alignment, those cleats in the ground,
06:13they're not just coming after you in the pocket.
06:15Now they've got to think about you as a runner as well.
06:19Throw here.
06:20Third down.
06:22The front is closing in, and they're going to get home here.
06:24And they drop him at the 40.
06:26And that sends him back.
06:27He's going to a fourth and 11.
06:28One of the biggest adjustments for quarterbacks going from the collegiate level to the NFL
06:33is the blitz package.
06:35Each and every practice leading up to a game time,
06:38you are spending so much time as a QB, as an offensive group,
06:41and as that O-line trying to figure out a way to stop these blitzes.
06:45At that time, the offense, the O-line, the QB,
06:48no one had an answer for that defensive pressure.
06:51Here's Atlanta ready to take over possession.
06:54And this game might be going better if he could have some more time just to work back there.
06:59This pass rush has been all over them,
07:01really keeps taking this offense out of any grooves that they've managed to get into.
07:05Okay, I like to say in life there's energy givers and there's energy vampires.
07:09Yeah.
07:10And for this defense, these sacks right here, they're such energy givers.
07:14And, man, it's like a vampire sucking the juice out of an offense.
07:18Yeah, I love that.
07:45This is one of those situations, Kate, where I watch the body language of the running back.
07:52Because it'd be very easy for him to raise his stance on you.
07:55Look to the sideline in his O-line and go, what am I supposed to do there?
07:58There was nothing, no time at all to try and escape and react.
08:02Instead, it goes backwards.
08:09Seconds down, here's two up.
08:11Couldn't bring it in over the middle, incomplete.
08:14Now, this just hasn't been a game they've won at score-wise, Brock.
08:16But it has them, as a result of that feeling like they've got to keep putting it up
08:20and taking chances here until the end.
08:22And I'd say, Kate, right there, that was the kind of chance.
08:25When you get a one-on-one, you've got to find a way to win it.
08:28But this defense has been doing their job.
08:33No throw, 30 long.
08:37And he just gets rid of this one, but unfortunately, that means fourth down coming up.
08:42Some of the frustrations spilling over a little bit on F.A. Brock.
08:46He's going to just get rid of it, even though he did have a receiver in the area.
08:50Yeah, I think that's right.
08:51You know, I'll co-sign on that.
08:53Frustrating, but just doing that kind of ballgame, just not in any rhythm.
08:56Really, the defense dictating so much.
09:05And the coverage team is there as he feels it.
09:07So almost nothing on that return before he stops.
09:10The Saints and Tyler Schuch just about ready for their next drive.
09:14And like we've seen from him before, Brock, he got a good game going early through the air
09:18and kept the pressure off from then on.
09:21He's still taking it to him now as we work through this second half.
09:32The Saints enjoy some good field position to start this drive off.
09:36First and ten coming up.
09:43Let's start this drive with A-Chan.
09:45And it hasn't been a common side ever been tonight.
