00:00Nearly 3,000 migrants have reached El Hierro since the beginning of October, putting pressure on services on the small
00:08Canary Island, home to around 11,000 people.
00:12Island President Alpidio Armas said authorities follow established protocols and treat arrivals with empathy and closeness, adding that migrants are
00:21seeking a better life.
00:23I must say that from the moment the rescue boats pick people at the sea or X-mile from the
00:28port of Lletzinga until they are transferred to Tenerife or Gran Canaria, 97% of the inhabitants of El Hierro
00:36do not see the migrants and everything is carried out strictly in accordance with the protocol.
00:42Furthermore, I must say that we adopt an attitude of empathy and closeness towards the people who arrive here as
00:48they are coming in search of a better life.
00:50It must also be acknowledged that from an economic point of view, this issue brings a great deal of money
00:57to the island of El Hierro.
00:58Health care services are also under greater pressure.
01:02El Hierro Hospital Director Luis Gonzalez said the hospital treated 91 migrant patients in October 2026 compared with 5 in
01:10October 2025.
01:12Around 23 migrants were hospitalized this October, up from 2 a year earlier.
01:17The health care situation on the island has been more challenging in the past, but comparing 2026 with the 2025,
01:24the situation has deteriorated, whereas in October 2025, we treated 5 migrant patients.
01:29This year, we have treated 91.
01:31We admitted 2 migrant patients to hospital in October 2025.
01:35This year, we have already had around 23 patients hospitalized in our department.
01:39In other words, in this respect, it is true that the pressure on the health care services has increased.
01:46Migration is a major issue in Spain's political debate ahead of the November 29th general election.
01:51Stop releasing заняти登 for literally 5200 Gens York City in October 2020 and they got into the number of samples
01:52in the next multi- alguna years as low as low as they died.
01:52All right.
01:52If you want to ask problems tonight another question, that will go for a few minutes.
