A political war of words has broken out between the BJP and the Congress-led opposition over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Union Home Minister Amit Shah mounted a counterattack against Rahul Gandhi following the INDIA bloc's rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, terming it a rally to protect infiltrators. Defending the voter roll revision process, Shah stated that approximately three crore absent names belonged to illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators who have been weeded out of the system. He questioned the opposition's challenge to the electoral process, pointing out BJP victories in 2014, 2019, and 2024 before the exercise began, and offered a special parliamentary debate on the matter. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi alleged that 15% of the electorate had been deleted since 2024, accusing the Election Commission of manipulation and demanding the resignation and prosecution of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The faceoff has also triggered debates over rally attendance and estimated trade disruptions.

00:00Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a blistering counter-attack on the Congress in particular
00:06and the opposition in general accusing them of trying to protect ghuzpaitiyas
00:11or illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators through their attacks on the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls.
00:18He accused Rahul Gandhi of ghuzpaitiya bachao rally at the Ramlila Meidan
00:23to protect what he called was their vote bank.
00:26And he said the catamonk pigeons, giving a breakup of these 13 crore names,
00:32the 13 crore names that have been deleted post the SIR process,
00:36insisting approximately 3 crore absent names were those illegal Bangladeshis
00:43who have now been weeded out of the system.
00:47A words to that effect.
00:48The Home Minister led the Lok Tantra bachao arajata hatao padhyatra
00:53accusing the opposition of trying to protect the infiltrators and win an election through bogus votes.
00:59This, a day after the Congress-led opposition India bloc
01:04carried out their vote bachao, desh bachao rally at Delhi's Ramlila Meidan.
01:11So, Amit Shah branded Rahul Gandhi's Ramlila Meidan rally a ghuzpaitiya bachao rally.
01:17He said infiltrators had become the opposition's main vote bank.
01:23His message was sharp.
01:25Infiltrators will not be permitted to vote in India.
01:29Every single one of them will be identified and removed from the electoral rolls.
01:34Defending the SIR or the Special Intensive Revision of the Electoral Rolls,
01:39Amit Shah said 3 crore infiltrators' names had been struck off.
01:43He rejected Rahul Gandhi's allegations of 13 crore, genuine voter deletion.
01:48He questioned why the Congress party was challenging the electoral process
01:51when Narendra Modi had won elections in 2014, 19 and 24,
01:57all three times before the SIR process even started.
02:01Home Minister Amit Shah then directed his fire at Rahul Gandhi,
02:06accusing him of blaming the EVMs or the Election Commission of India
02:12when the Congress party lost elections,
02:14but crediting voters when the Congress party won elections.
02:17Amit Shah challenged the opposition to a debate.
02:21He said there can be a special parliamentary debate.
02:24He dismissed Rahul Gandhi's leadership with a jibe
02:27that Rahul Gandhi could become a Prime Minister only through a mock parliament.
02:32And he declared that the Congress now was on a ventilator system.
02:37This after Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp,
02:39an equally sharp attack on the government over the weekend.
02:43The leader of opposition accused the Election Commission
02:45of stealing citizens' voices.
02:49Rahul Gandhi had claimed that 15% of India's electorate
02:53had been deleted since 2024.
02:56He demanded that the Chief Election Commissioner,
02:59Gyanesh Kumar, resign and face prosecution.
03:03Rahul Gandhi called this alleged manipulation
03:06the rarest of rare crime,
03:08accused the BJP of hijacking institutions.
03:11This confrontation has now spilled into a war of words
03:15over crowd numbers at the Ramlila Maidan Rally.
03:18Congress claims the turnout was massive.
03:20They've hailed the event as a historic show of public support.
03:24The BJP claims the Ramlila Maidan Rally was a flop.
03:29Sambit Patra claimed that 5,000 to 7,000 chairs were empty
03:33and 40% of the ground was unoccupied or vacant.
03:37BJP leaders have alleged that the Congress Party
03:40used AI-generated images to exaggerate
03:43the number of people who were there.
03:45So this political battle also has an economic dimension now.
03:48The Chamber of Trade and Industry has estimated
03:5111,000 crore rupees in losses
03:53linked to the rally and disruption around it,
03:56claiming that 2.5 lakh shops remained shut
04:00and business activity fell sharply.
04:03The estimates include losses in retail, wholesale, trade, transport,
04:08logistics, hospitality and even the informal sector
04:11with daily wage earners among those badly affected.
04:15So from votchory to bogus votes,
04:18this political war is now escalating.
04:21The big question,
04:22will this battle be settled by evidence in courts of law
04:25and electoral transparency
04:27or drowned out by political rhetoric
04:30with ordinary citizens and traders paying the price?
04:34We'd debate that.
04:35But first, let's give you all sides of the story
04:38and the war of words.
